Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Publicly traded probably means pink-sheet sized.

Do you know much about how that shit works?
You said it's a passive investment vehicle. How did you get into this?
>everyone in the film industry and on set is paid an obscene amount of money for doing nothing, its a very expensive industry. Even for the shittiest films seemingly have an infinite amount of money to pay everyone
This sounds about right, but aren't there a lot of asshats that go to college to learn about shit like filmography or whatever? Why are those people getting paid so much when there's so many other people that can probably do it as well? It seems like there's a high supply of available movie set helpers for a very limited demand for people

There were "limited edition" lines of some of the products that would sell like super rare Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, or magic the gathering cards.
And then, they fell out of style right around the time that the .com bubble popped.

Because the work is unreliable, and only the most competent workers are asked back. High pay for high standards.

Money appears in your account on the payout date as if by magic. DO NOT QUESTION IT.

The actual answer according to investopedia is this:

>On the payable date, the company deposits the funds for disbursement to shareholders with the Depository Trust Company (DTC). Cash payments are then disbursed by the DTC to brokerage firms around the world where shareholders hold the company's shares. The recipient firms appropriately apply cash dividends to client accounts or process reinvestment transactions as per a client's instructions.

Yes, they do increase their dividend. Dividend Kings/Aristocrats/Champions/Contenders/etc. aren't called that because their stock price falls and their dividend percentage increases.

They're called that because each year, they actually increase the amount (in dollars and cents) that they pay in a dividend.

And yes, they do increase their dividend even when they make less money. Its to entice investors into purchasing and holding their stock.

obviously not a rule, some will be able to keep the div some won't. There were certainly plenty of companies who were div aristocrats before the last recession that didn't hold that title afterwards... some did.
Of course value/defensive/dividend stocks are better to hold than growth during a recession. But don't count on FAT divs if the economy is doing poorly. If you happen to pick the companies that will still be DivAristocrats at the end of the recession, good on you, you'll come out of the recession very well. But if you are buying lots of different Div stocks, or if you're buying the current dividend aristocrats, you might not have as easy time as you're imagining. Aristocracy isn't some magic permanent thing. It can end in just one quarter. AND be aware that for stocks who have a nice, stable dividend, when that div gets cut the stock value TANKS.

>>13184017
she might, but she doesn't have to. One of my favorite things about buying sweet lady VIX is that is isn't as timing/price sensitive as options. If you buy something like UVXY when it is low/bottoming out, it might sit down there for a while. It might trend lower. But eventually you know it will spike up real nice.
