I have stood up for myself at almost every job I’ve worked at and I donit early. If I sniff unfairness I will absolutely and professionally (sounds like you were pretty unprofessional about your objections) put any direct supervisor I have together like a fucking puzzle.

If it escalates to upper management I’m confident and well spoken and don’t lose. I’m Teflon at every place I’ve worked.

TLDR: don’t spaz out, when you do object do it early and firmly. If you let them shit on you once they will do it eternally.

I work commercial construction, and most of our work is in large highrise buildings in SF. We have to use the loading dock to load and unload material and tools. There’s always a loading dock manager, and usually they’re total pricks who like to powertrip and inconvenience people just for fun. This story is from years ago when I was a 19 year old punk kid
>I pull into loading dock at end of day to load up our extra material
>the material is already sitting on loading dock, and 3 of my crew are standing with it, ready to load it into my truck
>the loading dock is empty, but the manager doesn’t want to let me in because he has a “scheduled delivery soon”
>I tell him that it will literally take me 2 minutes
>he tells me to get lost
>I drive down to the loading dock anyways
>start loading material while he’s screaming and yelling and jumping up and down threatening to call police
>we finish loading the truck, I look over and watch the guy open my truck door and snatch the keys out of the ignition to prevent me from leaving before the cops arrive
>he’s standing there with a smug expression twirling my keys in his hand, and he’s on the phone with the cops
>I walk up to him, look him right in the eye, and snatch the keys out of his hand
>he’s so mad that his eyes are bugging out of his head, and he turned a couple shades more red than he already was
>cops show up right as I’m leaving
>I explain exactly what happened
>cop tells me I’m free to go, then proceeds to yell at the loading dock dickhead for wasting his time
>I smile and wave as I’m driving away

I was working as web-developer in 2018 at some semi-government company(juridically private), so we had director with some soviet and stereotypical capitalism traits, and he had corruption ties with government people.

(1$=60 rubles)
>company was placed in center of Moscow and didn`t pay rent
>company get computers for free
>employees were formally employed at municipal company, so government payed salary with tax payers money. 45k rubles for every employee(750$).
>company got millions of rubles of revenue from some computer programs for urban management and engeneering
>240k of rubles from technically same web sites a month
>we had 3 developers includding me.(45k r as I said).

So company had almost zero costs, tons of revenue and with that director was:

>we had 2012 PC`s with 4gb ram and shitty HDD
>2 seconds to 2-3 minutes freezes of PC and 30 seconds after that of steady work all the time
>director bitched about buying not only new PC, but only SSD and RAM(bought new SSD after 2-3 months)
>non-developer coworkers worked overtime for free - 12/5 instead of 9/5. Sometimes even on holidays.
>not even "Thank you" for them. Overtime is mandatory.
