Remember when this board was about stocks, bonds, ETFs, South Sea Bubbles. Remember the /biz/caust.

Don’t remember that. /biz/ was made from /g/ & /pol/ as a containment board for crypto

/biz/ is a containment board to keep crypto scam out of /g/
I started lurking when 1BTC was ~$12k
I recall the great mooning. I recall the pink wojaks.
The last funny meme was the shrimp farm.

Not the OP, but were you really here when that happened? Or are you quoting a history someone else has handed to you?

Going back on the archives, I can see that even a few years ago this board was mostly non-crypto.

When what happened?
/biz/ was created when /g/ was flooded with the coin craze. But I didn't bother checking in.
Then bitcoin mooned, ETH mooned so I came in trying to figure out what was happening.
I'm still crying over spilled milk because I'm not rich and having mined bitcoin back then instead of shitposting on desktop threads would have fixed that.

Do you have any old screenshots from r9k?

what do you mean?
Also r9k is pretty shit now. robot9001 quality kept degrading, especially after the website that streamed IP cams with default credentials, the whole eggman stuff and failed beta uprising.

>>13114031

I mean do you have any screenshots from when r9k was good? I'd love to see some if you have any.

>especially after the website that streamed IP cams with default credentials

How did that contribute to the decline of r9k?

I don't have screenshots, but I believe the /r9k/ archive is pretty reliable.
>How did that contribute to the decline of r9k?
Lots of new users who then stayed and started fueling the whole "tfw no gf" meme into the suicidal wave. That was the beginning of the end as it is also the root cause of the whole eggman popularity imo.
Also this was fucken creepy, looking into people's house. I'm surprised this didn't blew out of proportion into scandal. Beastman, this sort of stuff.

>>13114093
I said it, I'm rather new on /biz/. But I'm a regular around /g/ (not during guro) and /prog/ when it was still around.

So what year would you consider r9k to have been good? When did you spend time there?

everyone always talks about /prog/, but I only ever got to read it when it was on the ass end of its history and most of the comments were people shitposting about Python or something

it's the opposite moron. stock markets have zero fundamentals and only goes up because of blatant manipulation by central banks all around the world. crypto goes up because of people actually wanting to buy it.

I don't see how hiro contributed to /r9k/'s continued decline considering it was already a sinking ship when he got on board

if it's implied that him banning discord links would fix things, I think people would just do the same shit the old fashioned way through Steam groups instead

>> No.13114494

>>13114411
I blame him for everything because he's too busy adding trackers, malicious adds and trying to break the site if we block his shit, and derailing threads instead of doing anything "productive".
But yeah, /r9k/ was too late to be saved, although stricter regulation against discords wouldn't hurt. Anyway, nothing of value is lost.
