I had a similar experience, but it was during a pre-interview presentation for a vague wagecucking job that was revealed later to be a sales job. There were only 3 people who attended. I sat far away from the other two people who were both Black women because I was kind of shy. The presenter, who was Black, assumed immediately it as a racist gesture and reacted with subdued anger. When I asked for a pen to sign a form, which he immediately give to the other two women, he glared at me for several long moments before giving it to me. Seeing how he reacted, I realized I was already an enemy in his eyes and it would to take job even if it was offered.
