This to be honest family, BAT needs to find its true calling as a workaround payment gateway for sites like 4chan and 8gag/censored writers, speakers and artists and so on otherwise there's literally no point. However, it could end up being the opposite. As a 60k BAT hodler I get more nervous about this project every day and it has nothing to do with the fud but more to do with how I've idealized the product as something it might not end up being.

BAT is actually a decent idea, and people can likely build their own solutions for what you're talking about. The thing about BAT though is that it's built on top of Ethereum, which will almost certainly fail. They may need to migrate to another chain at some point, which hopefully they have accounted for

But from a bizdev viewpoint there's just a lot of things working in Brave and BATs favor right now. This is a pretty big signal though as far as I'm concerned when it comes to the ad industry shifting. And that's only a small component of the Brave ecosystem. All it takes is WaPo tweeting a partnership with Brave and then those particular floodgates open. And believe me, that tweet is coming soon.

Or maybe that never happens and BAT fizzles and dies so I guess we'll see.

Its my personal conspiracy theory that outside of the first round of funding (12 mil I think), Thiel and the rest of the PayPal mafia bought out a majority of the ICO along with the other Silicon Valley insiders. Now you could say that it was random whale's but it just doesn't seem that way. But anyways back on topic I see USDC or something from CoinBase being the final settlement layer.

Also Eich is a computer scientist and a mathematician, so I'm sure he already has a solution in place. He worked at a place (NetScape) where if you have an idea to present you also better have code for it too. It was insane how cut-throat the browser industry was back in the 90's, so that's how these guys roll. ETH was the best way to raise capital at the time and would be a decent solution in the meantime until they could get something going with Coinbase. Once that is set up then they move away from ETH and that's that.

He got caught by the Brave algo's trying to scam the system. It was most likely a click farm that would download the browser on multiple machines/phones and send all the BAT to a designated youtube channel. And because publishers can only cashout via uphold, they need to have at least two forms of gov issued id. So I'm guess they used a stolen SSN to verify.
