why are you wasting your time on shitcoins instead of the real stock market?

its not mine. I'm just saying there's a lot more money to be gained (and lost) trading options or futures than some shitcoins.

Any advice on what to go for, then? ETFs is my best bet, but what exactly

>> No.13017353

look up what options are. that's the 100k profit on 32k investment in the OP picture. futures are similar to options in that its even more leveraged and you could make thousands in a day from a relatively small investment of 5-10k (or lose more money than you own). you could trade options on individual stocks (that preferably you have done research on), or you can trade options on ETFs like SPY (which is what's in the OP pic).

>>13017353
also just starting messing around in a paper trading account first. you're pretty much 100% guaranteed to blow up your first few accounts so don't waste your real money on it before you've got a decent grasp on it.

Are options the thing where you can bet if the stock goes up or down? Sounds like gambling to me. Also is SPY a special program or app I can use to trade, or is it just like an overlook? t. brainlet

>> No.13017387

>>13017371
it is inherently high risk and high reward but there are things you can do to mitigate that risk (but also cap your gains). at the very least, it can be less risky than gambling on shitcoins that get pumped and dumped. SPY is a ETF that tracks the SP500. if you're american then robinhood is a no fee broker

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to investigate SPY, and if the dividends are acceptable I might buy.

there are no dividends. the person in the picture purchased a bunch of options that bet the price would go up to a certain price by a certain date. the price went up much further than the price he bet on, so he made a fuckton of money

So even if you underestimate your initial price you still make money anyway? It seems like you could really abuse that. I would just low ball it every time for confirmed gains and if it goes past I make more anyway.

mostly tech and SPY. write covered calls and cash covered puts. go long on good opportunities. also gamble on SPY sometimes. i only use less than 15% of my portfolio on options.

>>13017462
its fidelity retard

>>13017473
if the price goes the other way of your bet then you get fucked. also it costs a lot more to buy "lowball".

>Buying the top

I've already done this enough times in crypto you're not tricking me again. There's 0 reasons to be bullish on the US and global economy's future right now, we've been in a 10+ year bull market already, and we clearly double topped, now skirting against that top set last year.

What reason do you actually have to assume we're just going to keep going up

these are all short term trades retard. nobody's holding anything. not to mention you can make make money even if the stock market goes down.

Futures commodities are the way to go. I've traded oil through all of 016-17. Made tens of thousands of a 20k intitial investment. Hell, I even got a little wild with livestock and bought and sold cattle.

You can always buy etfs and things like growth funds particularly if you dont mind holding for around 3 years minimum(im way long term investment holder so I couldnt really care less when I buy individual stocks) Also im bullish for at least another year or so considering trump wants to get re elected.

>> No.13018209

Wrong. The central banks are literally printing money to buy up the stocks. It's irrational but it's just how the world works.

Does this look flat to you?

With leveraged plays this makes you money. And FX moves like less than .5% in a day but people make millions. How? Because of leveraged plays buddy,

To make the market more liquid, people allow for futures traders to own short term contracts of certain numbers of commodities for a percentage margin of that they are really worth.

So with 5 grand I can control 100 grand worth of oil. etc etc.

It's pretty good pay if you know how to read charts correctly. The TA for those are way easier than crypto altcoin. Crypto altcoin doesn;t even make ense...THis crypto market is unregulated and illiquid.

Trading options like this will unironically bankrupt you about 95-98% of the time. If you like those odds, have at it. Options exist to hedge, not to gamble. If you gamble with them it's actually higher risk with lower potential gains than smart crypto investing.
