>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

This guy put 80k in MNGA before RS at 0.32. Now TRNX, He is down 95% on his investment

His stocktwits profile is full of hilarity, i've had quite a few laughs at his misfortune of investing into such a stupidly mismanaged company.

His 80k investment after 3 months is now worth less than 5k, considering at RS it opened after above 6 it is now trading at 60 cents

Posts like this are just entertainment to me till the rewards flow in this year or next or the year after that. It does not matter to me if it's 1 year or 4 years. I took advantage of the gift of buying shares on the cheap and grateful for it. Planning on adding more once my rent money comes in next month from my properties.

Also, REFR had a 100m market cap, 10 years before they even had a profit retard.

To me REFR is the best risk/reward out there. It might be hard for you to comprehend the writing on the wall with REFR. Every earnings call has a forward-looking statement. If you don't understand what that means dont invest. The next one is in two days.

I can't give examples because I'm not financially literate, but most of the stocks with high growth and valuations are built on group psychology. This is why individual stocks have so much more volatility. The point is that fundamental analysis doesn't mean a whole lot compared to sentiment.

>how you you personally figure out if a stock is overvalued?

I swing trade so I'm not heavy on fundamental analysis but the basic skim over is:

>P/E ratio compared against similar companies
>EPS
>how much debt the company has
>how much cash
>burn rate
>growth potential (is the sector hot right now or no? eg, is it a dude weed?)
>upcoming potential catalysts good or bad

From there it's all TA. The post you replied to, I was talking about swing entries on leveraged index ETFs. This is dicey territory as I think tomorrow has the potential to indicate the direction to expect for the coming month or more.

That's good to know, I've been listening to the intelligent investor while wagecucking but it recommends a significant portion of bonds even for the aggressive approach and generally speaking shuns stocks altogether. I understand the reasoning behind it and will follow that policy in the future but for now I think I'll stick to investing in ETFs (such as VUG, VTM, and VGT even split for 80% of my current portfolio), and the other 20% I will use for shorter term practice on purchases.

Even this seems fairly risky but I only have 7k to work with right now and at this point in my life I'm hoping to grow that with a reasonable expected return rather than "lelel i wanna double my money this month xD!". Hopefully this is a good plan, what do you anons think personally?

Burn rate will be listed in the company's quarterly financials. It's just how much money they're spending on a month to month basis.

Catalyst is news events that could move the stock price. Usually that means supply deals, partnerships, acquisitions etc.

To find earnings documentation, I'm not sure what the US equivalent site is. In Canada the place to check is SEDAR. This shouldn't be hard to find with a quick goggling. You brokerage may have a tab that has it all displayed right there without needing to go to a different site.
