>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

I'm not having trouble with calc II, I'm having trouble with my professor.
I'll reiterate the fact that I don't have trouble with the material.
I have trouble with adequately preparing for the tests, panicking, and then bombing the tests.

besides, ∫e^(-x^2)dx is the gaussian integral, a textbook case of a non-elementary integral unsolvable using elementary/calc II means. Don't be a smartass.

shit lol, I couldn't have put it better myself. Yeah, she's a math professor all right. My Calc I prof had a masters in both EE and Pure Math, so she knew how to teach that shit the way it made sense. I couldn't take her for this semester though the way my schedule worked out.

If the course isn't challenging and the tests are then she's setting people up for failure. The main reason humans set people up for failure is to feel better about themselves. I believe that we should be challenged, both in the class and on tests. I've had professors who made the entire term seem like not a big deal and then give a killer final, I was fine but a large portion of the class got creamed. This was their fault for not properly preparing themselves, but the instructor was complete shit in this circumstance as well.

You see, what he does here is side with the instructor to show how smart he is while simultaneously putting down everyone else he deems as not as intelligent as him self. He's just another young man-child who's mad at the world he insists that he's smarter than. The more he acts out on this anger the more isolated he becomes. Eventually he'll finally do something good for others and swallow a handful of pills like a 15 year old girl who got dumped. In the mean time he's just going to shit up thread.

we've been at the 2800 S&P index level for like 3-4 (trading) days now. They were calling it a quadruple top before, dunno what we are calling it now.
Anyway people put a lot of mental importance into support and resistance levels, either of stocks or major indices.
For now, this level is about where people feel comfortable with valuations until major news or other impulse moves us away from this level. (probably we will lightly drift up for a few more weeks)
This means buyers are buying under 2800, sellers are selling over 2800, and more of a mix of even buying/selling around 2800. Also meaning similar things for the valuations of stocks in the index.

The rest is memes but also true. We will keep hearing about the Fed, trade deal, Galt buyout, and LCI going to the teens but none of them will ever happen.

Absolutely. I'm starting to prefer the ETF to the index version because its easier to track. Index funds don't update til way later in the day. The ETF makes it easy.

What's the point in saying that when you know how I'll react?
You think you can just take it back, but shit just don't work like that
You're the drug that I'm addicted to, and I want you so bad
Guess I'm stuck with you, and that's that
'Cause when it all falls down, then whatever
When it don't work out for the better
If it just ain't right, and it's time to say goodbye
When it all falls down, when it all falls down
I'll be fine

The end of day update doesnt actually matter, nobody intelligent enough to own VTSAX cares about daily or weekly or monthly or even annual movements in price. ETF forces you into buying full shares which is slightly annoying, VTSAX you get every dollar invested immediately once you hit the $10k threshold. I just dump all my IRA cap every year into VTSAX and forget about it, it'll be making me 8% annually for however long I let it sit and grow

>> No.12931226

>>12931208
Its easier to track your whole portfolio moment to moment when its updating continuously. I agree its not a big deal but its nice to have.

And dividend reinvestments will buy partial shares. There isn't much of a difference but I buy ETF's instead of index funds now for tracking entertainment.

That's the public forum effect with trading. People who know what they're doing do post on their, but if there opinion is not popular it gets drowned out by the masses. Plebbit, stockhouse, /smg/, etc are all subject to that tendency. /smg/ benefits from a smaller pool of regular posters and no boating system so you get a nice mix of good information and buffoonery all at once.

Daily reminder of the following:
>Galt will be either bought out or partnered with. They have a billionaire to fund them so dilution is highly unlikely. Their drug is safe and solid and will be a key player in a hot future market.
>LCI is a solid company that turned the corner. Shorts are trapped and digging a deeper hole. Expect to at a minimum double your investment.

Both are cheap.

Well the market is tanking down the shit hole now, oh my. Time to suck it up and bag your good friend T and his good buddy the S&P 500 fund to keep your money on the rise. Cause that fat Divvy that T has is hard to pass by. Especially now that the stock price is under $29.99. The S&P 500 will see you least gain 6% over time. Which at first glance seems piss poor but alas what does your bank give you again? Only 2% if that. So buy them both now and hold them tight. The sweet gains will be well worth it in 15 - 20 years time.

I'd love bull run to continue, too. It's overall cheaper to trade that side of the volatility. Charts aren't looking good for it though. For S&P my short target is a retrace to around $2600. If it holds that it would be long term bullish and good base to launch a serious attempt at fresh ATH. Problem right now is things are too far extended. Look through a bunch of blue chip charts and it's all run up a lot, feels expensive to buy in to anything now.
