UBI will impose an additional 20% sales VAT on all goods and even services produced in the US, in addition to whatever sales tax currently exists in your jurisdiction (most common is just over 7%).

Using the current sales tax income as an example the VAT would hypothetically only make up about a quarter of what would be needed. The rest of the money is from hypothetical "savings" in bureacracy that includes an end to all crime everywhere throughout the country (I'm not makng this up, this is what UBI proponents actually believe and is writ large on Yang's website).

UBI will lead to immediate price gouging and hyperinflation.

I'm sure UBI will be a thing because it'll be the easiest solution to a growing unemployment problem due to robots that is compatible with how the world already works.

But don't hold your breath, probably won't become reality for at least another 50 years. First robots need to develop and take over to such a point that nobody actually NEED to work, and most old people in charge who are used to the old ways have to die off.
