how do you actually retire? when yoru a few years from retirement and still 100% equities, what do you do? How do you buy bonds and get paid by them annually or whenever? wouldnt you have to pay capital gains on your stock sells to then buy bonds, then pay income tax on your bond returns?

w a $1.30 credit, you should be protected from any losses at all (barring fluctuations in vol) for $1.30 under where the contracts were sold at, until expiry. if it goes below that, you will be losing money (or rather, since your B/E is 7.5, gains) at the same rate you normally would without any covered calls

if youre happy with where your gains are now, and dont think its gonna absolutely CRASH next week and want out, sell weekly ATM calls on a red day. thats my trick to get pay day a week early and still be able to kinda hang onto my position. worst case, you get called away at strike on expiry. you keep total premium as well as the gains (being in this case, the difference in your stock positions B/E and the call strike * number of shares)

and if the red day is fake and gay, and it looks like its totally gonna take the fuck back off and you DONT wanna get exercised, you can usually buy it back before it goes ITM again for a smol (like 5-10%) profit because of the steep theta decay near expiry and how vega fluctuates when a contract goes OTM near expiry

its a trick for a rainy monday/tuesday where you think your stonk is gonna stay flat/go down a bit for the week, but you also kinda sorta dont really give a fuck if you leave the position on friday at pretty much this price, and instead want money NOW

First step, p/e ratio and EPS. Earnings per share will tell you if the company is turning a profit or not as of the most recent quarterly earnongs call. If this is in the negative they're losing money. Not necessarily a deal breaker, it depends how much they're losing and what their potential to become profitable is. P/E should be compared against the company's peers in the same sector.

Look fir the most recent quarterly earnongs news release. See how much cash they hsve, how much debt, determine the odds that they will need to raise more money (via share dilution) to expand further. This is most applicable to new-ish companies. Check news releases for catalysts, planned partnerships, supply deals, expansions, etc. I know it sounds like a lot but omce you get used to it, it takes maybe 30 minutes to get an idea of the company's financial health.

Depends on what you're looking to invest in. I like bio pharma so what I do typically is read the clinical results of their pipeline, and evaluate said pipeline's potential marketability (ex: RTTR makes a drug that increases lactose tolerance, yet isn't focused on Asian markets; hence I'd evaluate it as a company with good science but bad market focus and I wouldn't long it).
For companies with incredibly specific pipeline's that I don't really understand because I don't have a degree in Internal Medicine, I typically look at the CEOs/directors, their ages/careers and how much of their net worth is tied into the company's stock.
Never bet on rich old fucks with 40 years of experience going broke.

If I were looking to break into consumer staples I'd research the direction the company is headed and see if it aligns with where I feel the consumer goods market is headed. I'd look for red flags like a recurring amount of debt/negative EPS, too much charity, too high salaries. Then I'd then research the directors, their careers, their homes, assets, families etc. and see if they're somebody I can trust is tethered to the well-being of the stock price.

If I was looking to invest in consumer electronics I'd probably do a lot of passive sociological research. Pay attention to the products I see people using around the city and colleges. Then I'd look into each company and see if their stock doesn't reflect the uptrend I've noticed, buying the dip. I also check to see if there's an increase in chinese knockoffs, because that indicates desirability.
