>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Just glanced over SPKE at Yahoo finance. I don't get it. It's very overshorted, but it's hard to argue that it's undervalued. It looks overvalued if anything.

Is the bull thesis purely that "longs will try to make a short squeeze happen and then sell near the top of it" or does this company actually have anything going for it?

The problem I have with constructing a long term portfolio of stocks is you'll never get fuck you rich from it. Say you pick 10 stocks at $10k each, 4 of them could double with the rest breaking even and you'd only have $140k. Doubling is hard enough, but then at the end of the day you have $140k for a lot of risk and very little reward

They own more tier 1 business space in Austin than any other company. Seems well run, I listened to their earnings call last week. Fully leased til 2020 at below market rates which may cushion any economic downturn.

I dunno, people hate on REITs and hate on office space as an investment class. Living in Austin, the fact that they own so much of the brand new space at the Domain is pretty impressive. That and LAND make up my small REIT allocation

Sanchez Energy Corporation (SN) today announced that it has received notice from the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) that the company does not presently meet the NYSE continued listing standard which requires a minimum average closing price of $1.00 per share over a period of 30 consecutive trading days. In accordance with applicable NYSE procedures, the company plans to timely notify the NYSE that it intends to pursue actions to meet the minimum average share price requirement. NYSE to suspend trading in Sanchez Energy, commence delisting proceedings The New York Stock Exchange announced that the staff of NYSE Regulation has determined to commence proceedings to delist the common stock of Sanchez Energy -- ticker symbol SN -- from the NYSE. Trading in the company's common stock on the NYSE will be suspended immediately. The staff had previously notified the company that it had fallen below continued listing standards. Subsequently, the company informed the NYSE that it did not intend to submit a business plan demonstrating its ability to return to compliance with continued listing standards within 18 months of notice from the Exchange. Consequently, the Exchange suspended trading in the common stock and commenced delisting proceedings, NYSE stated.

>Remember when Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk committed securities fraud by falsely claiming on Twitter that he had secured financing to take Tesla private? Remember how Musk and Tesla settled with the Securities and Exchange Commission by agreeing to pay fines and have Tesla lawyers review Musk’s tweets before he sent them out? Remember how Tesla hired a high-powered Washington litigator as its general counsel and Musk’s Twitter babysitter? Remember how Musk then said in a 60 Minutes interview that he and Tesla were absolutely not ever going to comply by the terms of the settlement that they had signed, that he does not respect the SEC, and that no lawyer would ever pre-clear his tweets? How’s that working out?

>Elon Musk corrected a prediction for how many cars Tesla Inc. would make in 2019, just hours after tweeting that production would reach about 500,000 vehicles this year.

>The electric-car pioneer, who has a track record of snafus on Twitter, said he intended to tweet that Tesla expects to be making cars at an annual rate of about 500,000 by the end of 2019. Musk said Tesla still forecasts deliveries of about 400,000 vehicles this year.

>“Meant to say annualized production rate at end of 2019 probably around 500k, ie 10k cars/week,” Musk tweeted, four hours after saying it would make 500,000 cars in 2019. “Deliveries for year still estimated to be about 400k.”

>Honestly, imagine being Tesla’s lawyer and waking up to this nonsense. I would quit! I am not alone; Tesla’s lawyer actually did quit this morning.

fucking based
