OK I figured out the value calculation for IOTA thanks to the helpful contributors in this thread.

IOTA's proof of nothing mechanism means it retains the possibility of doing something someday indefinitely, thus ensuring speculation about its possible uses, forever. As long as it continues to do nothing, we can continue to safely speculate, so it is important that there is PROOF of doing nothing.
