Basically company history, forward earnings, reading about companies, etc.

I invest alot in things i'm familiar with. I buy AAPL, JNJ, PG, SBUX and KO products, which I use my Visa card to purchase. JPM is one of the largest financial institutions in the world, I use ATT services, I understand LOW, MO and ITW business models, my company uses IP products and IRM services, CSCO and MSFT are household names and PSX (or XOM, OXY, CVX) are good because basically petroleum is in everything.
