dudes surrounded by a forest, thought $500 is a stretch, I'd put an estimate on building a cabin with wood self sourced to be about $3000 if you already have the tools and a means to haul the wood
>>12710932
any sized wood stove can heat up a small cabin like that easily

don't forget the time it costs to research how to do everything + the time to actually do it. there's also the body wear cost

also it's a proper house, not simple stuff like this. i dont think most people today would be content with living in these things.

He wasn’t arguing that it’s not rewarding to build something. He was arguing the true cost is much higher. First, to buy all the equipment necessary to cut trees and carve planks of wood in a timeline where you don’t die before you finish, you are looking at thousands of dollars in expenses for good saws, blades, a generator and the gas to run it for months, etc.

Then you will still spend probably well over 2 years of your life doing the actual labor. That time could have been spent doing something like... working and making money, which means that money is now gone.

In the end you have spent easily $100k+ to build a tiny one room hut with no toilet where you instead could have bought a nice $100k house in any low population wooded area which would have running water, heating, 4-7 rooms, electricity, etc.

But yes, if you REALLY love building things and don’t care about how financially stupid it is, you can do this. Not for $500, but for $100,000+.

>and you paid the Zoning Jew for permission
>you paid all of your tributes to Israel before starting this project, didn't you goy?
>we'd hate to consider your property illegal and be forced to tear it down
>oh and you already have to have a place to live while you're doing it all!

The tools required to mill your own lumber (and those boards he's kneeling on are milled-quite well might I add) already puts you over $500.

I'm not saying you can't do it, just you're not doing it for under $500 unless you happen to have friends who can loan you whatever equipment you need.

This is all easy to skirt. If you have living family just place your official residences with them, boom. Done. You can now basically live in a tent.
