If you buy one share for $321, which is the latest price, you'll make a profit if you eventually sell it for more than $321 (ignoring dividends because Tesla doesn't pay any).

Once you've bought a share, you own that share forever (with some exceptions). It's a small part of ownership in the company. If the company does poorly your share of the company might not be worth much, but it's still yours.

I don't know much about Stockpile. I took a quick look and they talked about buying fractional shares so maybe you're really buying some sort of certificate, at least up until you get a whole share?

Nobody cares about cable television or movies anymore and capeshit is running on fumes so that will hit them hard. ESPN is expensive to run and losing a shitload of money after all their attempts to politicize sports and the only time people watch it are for live sporting events, which cost more in broadcasting rights than they make in advertising.

Streaming had a lot of upside but they are mismanaging that terribly too and will end up losing to Netflix because of it.

Their theme park business is a goldmine though but it's a small portion of their business compared to the media.

Marvel was an okay acquisition for its time, but like you say, capeshit running on fumes. Trying to project the past performance of capeshit into the future is most likely going to be a bad call.

The Lucasfilm acquisition, however, has been horrendously mismanaged. Under Disney's stewardship, they've done a lot of damage to the Star Wars brand (not just with the movies, either, but also by royally fucking up the very important games segment of the IP by giving EA exclusivity) and I doubt they're going to turn it around.

They've got big investments in cable and ESPN which are going to continue to weigh on revenue as people continue to cord cut. I really doubt their streaming is going to work out like they're hoping.

Most of their other movies (including subsidiary studios) are increasingly unoriginal--if they're not poking their toe in the pool of SJW pandering--which won't help them draw audiences.

About the only thing Disney has going for it is the theme parks and cruise line operations, but those won't be enough to make up the performance of the other segments. I'd sooner just buy SIX, NCLH, or RCL in that case.

The point of acquiring IP like Star Wars (or any IP for that matter) is to generate consistent, reliable revenue for a long period of time. This is where they're failing because of the damage they've let happen to their brand. Even if it were 5x what they paid for Star Wars isn't anywhere near what they could be getting out of it in the long run.

You should all pick up some Unilever when they go on sale during the greater depression. They just started making these new packets with pasta and powders in them that you just add to milk and water and bam you've got a nice side pasta dish in like 7 minutes. It all comes down to management and I don't like the decisions they've made lately, which results in a lack of faith that they will turn it around. GE was probably mismanaged for 30 years before it got to where it is today, on the brink of bankruptcy, and DIS is going on ten.

Splitting their media content into two separate streaming services is a very poor decision IMO and ruins their chance of overthrowing Netflix, which, shouldn't exist if it wasn't for their mismanagement and lack of vision in the first place. Ran Star Wars into the ground, you had a franchise grossing 2 billion a movie that is now just another tiresome franchise due to releasing a new moving every 6 months or less.

People are cutting cable at massive rates due to politicizing everything from sports to kids shows, along with high fees and boring unoriginal content.

The one good thing they have going is investing in their cruise lines and theme parks which are the only good assets in their portfolio. It would be great if they would spin it off into a separate company so it could grow properly without being weighed down by the rest of their business.

They still will have their animal shows and other exhibits that aren't going anywhere, unless Zoo's go away too. They stopped the killer whale shows but they still have them in captive for another 10-20 years until they all die off which will keep drawing visitors. They're aggressively expanding their rides to offset the loss of the killer whale shows and its working. I think San Diego stopped their shows over a year ago and attendance is up big.

I bought 100 shares of VSTM @ avg $3.15 = $315
I sold a 3/15 $2.50 Put for +$25 ($250 collateral)
I sold a 6/21 $5.00 Covered Call for +$40 (100 shares collateral)

So far I am +$65 from option commissions - $10 buys.

See like oil is going to go up up up, so what you would do is sell the puts that are out of the money and then hedge them with further out of the money puts. So you could sell the $11 puts and then buy the $10.50 puts so you can get paid for every $50 you want to risk. Then when the options all expire worthless you just made all that premium you took in on the spread.
