Lol. That's not how it works. It works like this: short sellers will short the hell out of an asset to fuck the neet holders. If the asset is really useful, people will continue to buy it regardless of the price, leading short sellers to give up and go long. Fundamentals matter in the end.

Ethereum took off in 2017 because people were buying ICOs. There was a use case to crypto (investing in startups). People would buy ether to reinvest it in some shitcoin. Initially, the price of ether didn't matter to those investors since their intent was to SPEND their ether. As the price of ether began to go up, people started to hold. ICOs, at first, held their ether, causing a supply shortage, leading the price to go up.
