I'm always torn in these situations. On one hand, they've accomplished it themselves. On the other hand, anything north of 1 billion is literally too much (100 million is already more than one person should be able to spend lavishly). A lot of their "worth" is in their own company's stocks though. Ethically speaking, they should raise their company's wages, but moreso for the lowest wages or give a fat company wide bonus.

It's not actually fruitful for the species and since each individual is relatively meaningless, those that don't donate the vast majority of this wealth to the betterment of society are no better than a bubonic plague - they are counter productive to species survival, which is unironically the most important thing a human (or any species individual) can contribute to, which is why having children is such a genuinely rewarding and celebrated experience. If any of these men actually hold value to society and were not solely motivated by personal greed, they wouldn't hold the stores of wealth they do. Bill Gates is exemplary in terms of billionaires because he has committed his entire fortune to species betterment.

Those people have more control compared to the average person, but there are still a lot of things they can't control.
Having a bunch of money is just numbers, it doesn't change anything in the economy. If a bunch of money is sitting somewhere and it gets redistributed, it won't make crops produce faster, cars be cheaper, technological advancements come faster, etc. (on average) because most people are plebs whether you want it or not.

In my opinion, capitalism works exactly because of greed. For example, if a lot of people get addicted to facebook, it creates a large problem that needs to be solved, and the only motivation for solving it is finding the new "drug" that's gonna balance things out and divide the time people spend at home, therefore finding a balance, and making some other people rich in the process. If the established thing fails, since most of the wealth is in stocks, the person in charge loses wealth as well. It's a self balancing system even though that's not easily seen.

Of course this is all a bit speculative since I can't really prove one system is clearly better than the other, but that's how I think about it
