>governments are self-interested cognizant entities acting in an economically rational manner, and not just collections of the most psychopathic cunts available within a certain border who are all trying to personally enrich themselves to the maximum extent possible with no concern whatsoever for the long term impact on said territory or costs generated to be paid by taxpayers
they unironically wouldn't. the endgame of cryptocurrency is the complete disintermediation of all governments.

yeah. ur an autocrat. you have 1.2bn in gold (that's some 52910 pounds) under your parliament building. there's a coup. the army comes and takes the gold, rip.
you have 1.2bn worth of bitcoin. you just flee the country and take the reserves and start a new government headquartered in a friendly foreign country.

if not earlier, after ww3, crypto marketcap will far supprass gold and even stocks (and probably even the 500 trillion real-estate as a lot of that is just 'store of wealth' also).

people will realize how what 'the abstraction of the asset' actually means.

ww3 isn't needed btw, it could be a global communist government, or any system where private property isn't respected. once the tyrants are gone, ppl who stored their wealth in crypto will just recover it (the public ledger cannot be destroyed, private keys (stored encoded in a jpg file on your harddrive or in a brainwallet) cannot be taken away, even if miners are shot down and crypto cannot be transfered, people just continue the operation after the tyrants are gone)
