As someone who bought btc in 2013, I just have this oddly optimistic feeling that alt coins in general are going to be widely accepted in mainstream society.

The main problem we are experiencing now is that society does not truly realize the immaturity of this market, which create a mass euphoria of hope & speculation, which was taken advantage of by certain coins such as bitconnect, which then made bitcoin & alt coins look bad in general by the mass. There are so many alt coins now that are literally diamonds in the rough, which are overlooked because of the current market.

Who else is with me?

Yeah, alt coins need real world uses. They're pretty much vaporware right now. Give me a Google over a Pets.com any day.

No
I'm not holding autistic volatile shitcoins. I'm not buying crypto transferring it to binance to get a token to do something with it. That doesnt make anything in my life easier.

Here's the crypto redpill. There are mostly 2(3) ways for a coin to have value.
1. Currency
BTC and Monero are good examples of this, but they are only worth as much as the market decides they are worth. I don't think the volatily problem will ever be solved with pure currency coins.
2. Coins that are a front for a legit company/foundation that offers valuable services that people are willing to pay for. They are forced to pay for these services in that specific token which creates buy pressure and upwards price action. Most altcoins fit in this category (ETH, NEO, ARK, BAT, etc.) but their big problem is that they are not ready for use yet and when they will be ready we don't know for sure that people will actually pay money to use those services.
3. Assets backed currencies. This might be big if it ever works. I could see it even replacing category 1 due to being a better store of value with less price volatility. Holo has a good idea with making their coin backed by computational power and if it works it will open the door to many similar asset backed currencies (veiled holo shill). They even expressed interest in creating more. Sweetbridge also seemed like a good idea with a currency backed by real estate and other real world assets, but right now that looks like a regulatory nightmare.

TL/DR: you're right, but it might take a while cause shit is hard. Bet carefully.

That's the blue pill. Bitcoin will literally do all of this. Anyone building on a shitchain will be wrecked and forced to rebuild on btc in the future.

I keep hearing this for almost 8 years. Bullshit like "IT WILL DO EVERYTHING" stopped me from buying in 2010-2011. Financially it was the wrong decision, yet here we are, 10 years since BTC's inception and it's almost the same shit. Your post is the typical BTC maximalist cope that feels threatened by all these new projects. Is that you, Richard?

No I bought shitcoins in 2018 and got wrecked. Couldn't even use them for anything got depressed and wanted to but lsd. Needed btc that is when I took the red pill. No one is even using crypto so if something useful does come btc will steal it. What crypto do you actually use? What value does it provide for you.

no.
shut up and lurk more.
keep holding BTC in the hopes that "it will do everything". Even holding it for the wrong reasons will get you less rekt thanks to the lower volatily. Maybe this will keep you from KYS.

I bought like $5 worth of btc. Will I be rich? No. I don't thin ck crypto is going up anymore. I just bought it because I thought it was cool. But am I going to dump hundreds of dollars into crypto? No. Its too high risk. Besides crypto has no value, its only as valuable as you think it is. If you want btc to go up in value then you must believe and convince others that its worth what you believe its worth.
