The rat race is officially over for me!! I escaped with no diabetes and no alcoholism. No obesity. No ptsd, no divorce, no wife no kids!!!

HAHAHAH! Continue slaving to pay off your rent or "MORTGAGE" lol! Mortgage is a "death engagement" baby, and you gon' die sooner rather than later!!

Health insurance can protect you from shit that is 100% out of your control, like a random testicular torsion or blunt trauma from slipping on the ice.

But the costs from those surgeries/medicines are "UNLUCKY" costs, whereas diabetes is 100% fucking preventable. If you follow a proper diet, you won't get diabetes, therefore you won't need health insurance and 99% of the time you will survive life without getting a bill for 100k testicle surgery because of biology choosing you as the unlucky winner of a deadly and random condition

Property tax is about $6,000 per year, currently paid by tenant who is a nurse making $4,000 a month so it's a pretty decent deal for her

I run my dividends pretty conservatively so I'm only pulling in $4,000 a year completely tax free off dividends. Don't have a car or any fancy shit so on $4,000 I eat pretty well.

I mean maybe at some point in the future if something changes then I will consider working as a 1099 consultant, but as it stands right now I am cash flow positive and have all of my immediate needs solidified

there is absolutely no need for me to buy a ferrari or start lavishing hoes

i was retired off of mad crypto earnings and dividends years ago and finding shit to do drove me insane. i ended up picking up a shitty job at a restaurant just to meet new people to hang out with. the real problem with retiring is the doing nothing or whatever you want thing all the time. it can get real boring real fast. it took me 4 years before i finally had to get a job (didnt have to financially just did it to have something to do).

good luck dealing with the boredom, it kicks in really hard after the first couple years. i also found that writing books was a good escape as well. got several self published but even that gets old. again, good luck with finding something for yourself to do as its the worst feeling about being "retired"

ignore the high-maintenance shittalkers OP, ya dun good. my goal is also 100k. you know yourself, understand what you need and what you don't, and don't have the rapacious consumptive attitude of the average American. just stay busy and enjoy your time. you are richer than a large portion of the world's population, and the fact that you're not in debt puts you above most Americans. stay grateful.

get some health insurance though, that will plow you in the ass if you pull the wrong number.

you should be able to buy a short-term plan, it's what i use. they're just the old catastrophic plans we had before the ACA; it just sucks because you have to renew it often, depending on your state. here I have to sign up for a new plan every four months. anyway it's not ideal but they're cheap and certainly better than having nothing. also check if your state expanded medicaid, you may be able to get something if it did.

bernie 2020 all i'm gonna say. healthcare is absurd in this country

>diabetes is preventable
Type 1 is rare and can’t be prevented. Type 2 is preventable, but it also depends on your genetics. Both my grandparents, my uncle, and my cousin have it and none of them are overweight. There’s a solid chance I get it even if I maintain an excellent diet. I try to minimize the risk and avoid eating too much sugary foods but I could end up with it too.

Damn /biz/ btfo.

Also, OP sell the fucking house if you're paying 6K a year on fucking property taxes lol. Then buy a house in a cheaper area with lower property taxes and put the difference into dividend stocks.

You could have a megacomfy retirement in Atlanta/Kansas city.

Lets say your house sells for 300K and you buy a house for 100K with 2K property taxes. Now you have 320K in dividend stocks, which at 4% dividends is like 13K/yr. Even at 10K a year (3%) you'd be living comfy. Rent out a room/basement for extra income.

get another job and use the experience for a salary bump, start your own business, go into another career as a freelancer as use a bit of that to get you started off the first year

Use retail to get another retail job? I'd just start as a non-manager again. No point honestly other than doing something for $10 less an hour with no stress. Also I've become quite the gym-rat meathead so my aggression is far more intense than when I was a skinny teenager doing this shit.

Freelance what? I have zero connections, zero education. Just a 60k bankroll and retail experience.

I'm quite autistic and OCD, but I've always used them as strengths. (Get shit done, get it done with attention to detail, etc.)

Well I imagine you could look for management positions or apply as head of store. Of course the plan isnt to start at the bottom of the barrel again. You'll have a (hopefully) positive track record and lots of experience, now its time to use this to your advantage.

As to the freelance part: Usually you start freelancing something that you either have an education in or a talent. If you dont have any education and no talents its going to be hard. But usually there has to be something you are good at. You just start making money off of it by marketing it cleverly and getting yourself out there.

In the age of internet it has become so much easier to freelance since there are tons of crowdworking platforms and others that bring freelancers and companies together. Thats a start you can build on by getting your name and a reputation out there, so after a while you can get off of these platforms and make more $ cutting out the middle man
