Because its actually useful right now as a way to purchase drugs, guns, fake IDs, launder cash, evade taxes, etc etc, and thus isn't as plagued by speculative bubbles that shitcoins in alpha with no immediate use case go through.

Because Moneros price is strongly correlated to bitcoin. Interestingly enough it’s % movement to the upside when compared to bitcoin has been gradually increasing. If bitcoin doesn’t get its act together there’s no reason why monero can’t become the defacto store of value. If bitcoin can implement privacy you better fucking sell monero

Because its used for a lot of transactions where people sell it afterwards. Its stable because its being used as a currency. It will moon eventually, especially as regulations become harsher and harsher until normal goyim cant own anything except it.

Most of these transactions, for ZEC and DASH anyway, are from wallets to exchanges or between exchanges for arbitrage. DASH and ZEC have always had much higher exchange volume than Monero, historically. A lot of that has to do with the exchanges scalping on Monero withdrawal fees over the years which has been improved over the past few months of course, though the high fees were never really necessary in the first place. Even pre-bulletproofs, you could set a low fee and its not like your transaction wouldn't get packed into a block.

Long story short is Monero always had a disadvantage at being a high liquidity whale coin because it couldn't be arbitraged quickly and cheaply enough. That barrier is removed so we may see Monero eventually creep up in transaction volume to catch up to or overtake the others.

I don't really think we can read too much into two weeks worth of transactions to really draw much of a conclusion. Both XMR and DASH have been pretty consistent over the past few years.

Dash had a stress test a few weeks ago doing 3 million tx/24h so I could not get a bigger time frame on this sadly. would love to see the stats without the stresstests over a two yyear period.

Eh, just drag the slider on bitinfo back over the years. You'll see that it's all the same basically. About 4-5k for XMR, 9-10k for DASH with spikes in DASH obviously. I really don't think this means a heck of a lot.
>>12559177
Not everyone is wash trading Monero. If they were, it wouldn't have spiked to $500 last year. Monero has plenty of speculators.

I just told you that you can't draw conclusions from any of these transaction stats, and that other anon pointed out that a lot of the transaction volume could be useless/fake. These stats don't tell the whole story.

There are plenty of people speculating on Monero too. It's not just washed for bitcoin solely. If it was we wouldn't see it fluctuate from .01 to .03 and back again over the past two years. People are definitely trying to game satoshis out of Monero but it's just not as popular as some of the others for daytrading for reasons I mentioned earlier in the thread.
>>12559652
Monero has no premine. Fluffy sold mining rack equipment during the heyday of bitcoin mining. He may have made most of his money mining bitcoin, but we'll never really know. Also, doesn't really matter?

It matters because I want to make money like he did. This is a /biz/ board. Selling mining rack eq sounds like a great biz model.
