12520262 No.12520262 [Reply] [Original]

I was talking today to some of my friends who bought crypto in January '18 and got utterly destroyed by the bubble bursting. Those were the times it seemed like ALL my friends were into crypto (we are all more tech savvy than the average, we talk about friends in an engineering research lab).

I told them ETH is very cheap these days and they told me they will NEVER buy crypto again, they got their beating for them crypto doesn't exist anymore.

I now wonder, who the fuck is ever buying btc/eth again for a new bullrun if these guys gave up? Literal boomers? Kids who are 14/15 now? What do you think?

And this.

Also, it will most likely be less speculative than last time, i.e. crypto actually being used for things other than speculation. That means that a lot of large investors (yes I know, muh institutional investors, but it's true) will be pouring money into crypto. So the rally will be less dependant on retail investors throwing a few k into crypto. Of course that's if crypto ever gets back to it's ATH. A big if.

When I bought into Crypto at 1KUSD per BTC, I had to ask myself what 1KUSD actually is. It's a mediocre amount in all reality, whether or not you may in your own personal view find it to be a large sum. You can make 1KUSD back within two weeks if you have an OK job. Even as a neetbux retard you could potentially get 1K a month. What is 1K if it can turn into 5K? 10K? 20K? How fast would I be able to make back my entire investment? These are the questions you need to ask yourself, these are what actually matter. Apply this same logic to 3K and you have your answer, 3K is absolutely buttfuck nothing, and in the end if it turns out you spend 15-21K buying some buttcoins and they drop, well that sucks, but it's a small finite sum that you'll be able to pay back off. But let's say BTC goes from the 3.5K it's currently at to 10K again, you have ten BTC that's 65K profit. At 20K a BTC that's 165K profit. Ask yourself how long it would take you to make these numbers, and you have your answer on whether or not BTC is worth it in the long run. Apply this logic on a small scale, like 1BTC max, and you now have a potential of 5X your investment. Do I think BTC will go back up to 20K? I believe so. And if not BTC it will just be another coin. It's all about time management, so ask yourself if you could make 10-200K in a short amount of time.

I’ve been buying/using bitcoin since 2010 and got into other cryptos around 2012, so I’ve seen the space grow and change. What happened in 2017 was unprecedented and not comparable to previous spikes in Bitcoin. There is a HUGE difference between something with a market cap in the millions and one in the high billions. Furthermore, before 2017, hardly ANYONE knew anything about cryptocurrency...if anything some people knew what bitcoin was. Now EVERYONE (and I mean EVERY FUCKING PERSON) knows what cryptocurrency is and has heard the word blockchain, etc. Far more people got burned than got rich in 2017, and a lot got put after breaking even. I find it highly, highly unlikely that there can be another phenomenon like 2017. Any cryptocurrencies that survive and develop into actual useable networks will probably see much more realistic growth akin to equities. You would have to wait another generation to have enough new, ignorant people to fall for such a bubble again.

I don't know, I know a lot of extremely intelligent people who wouldn't touch crypto with a 10 foot pole, even during the last bullrun.

Until crypto has:
1) regulations so normies have a false sense of security; and
2) actual, real life use cases so normies are no longer scammed into buying vaporware bullshit cryptocurrencies,

I don't think we'll see a real bullrun until then. The true normies need some sort of reassurance that they're not going to lose all of their money, as well as a real, actual use for the bullshit internet money they're buying.

I don't think the ponzi scheme is enough anymore, next bullrun won't start until there's some legitimacy in the field.

Source: my ass, but I have lots of tech-savvy, intelligent friends/family who refused to buy in the last bubble for these 2 reasons. Looked like a ponzi, plus it's all vaporware. Fix those 2 points and you'll have normies splashing the cash

Yeah but gold has little utility in the real world.

Cryptocurrency (potentially, once again, 99% is pure vaporware that will never come to fruition) could have incredible, convenient, helpful real world utility that will benefit our everyday lives. If smart/wealthy normies see that utility, and believe they can make money off of it with some reassurance that they won't get scammed, they will pump it.

IMO this "utility" stage either won't come, or won't come for another couple of years.

That is a parabolic difference from a news article on bitgoy running up to $100

The way normies.... and you included got burned means people have been beaten and battered. THEY will only.... come in at the end of a massive pump. And only some of them, i ask you. Who the fuck is gonna pump it up that high and for that many months to trap them? No one, institutional investors wouldn't even bother and plus they already dumped their bags on normies.

So the only hope for a run up to say 100k is the next generation of faggots who are listening to lil pump. That is a long time away, and keep in mind they learned from their boomer brother (you) of how easily it is to get rekt. So they'll be wise enough to try to dump bags first

Turbonormies don't want to buy low, they'd rather wait until ATH so they can lose as much money as possible. Sounds weird but they actually try to do things weird, your friends are textbook examples. Utterly false. You have a skewed perception of what a normie is. Or anyway what you call normies are a small percentage of potential investors.

The media exposure was so high that even actual normies heard the word cryptocurrency and some might have pretended to have an idea of what they are, but most normies were diffident all along and didn't buy.

The problem is that those normies will not buy even for a new bullrun unless something different than eth or btc or XRP starts rising

Except that the stock market is a COMPLETELY different beast. I was literally saying this during the bull run and no one was listening.

The underlying asset you buy when you buy a stock, is a piece of a productive enterprise. It has a balance sheet, has a management team, sells stuff to people in the real world.
Which means that IT CAN BE VALUED, NOT SIMPLY PRICED, AND PRODUCES CASH FLOW (huge difference, currencies in general can only be priced).
The value of a stock is not dependant on a sucker that is willingly to pay an higher price for it down the line. Unless you are a trader and not an actual investor, but that's on you.

As long as crypto won't produce RELIABLE CASH FLOW, based on real world usage, it will remain a ponzi scheme and slowly bleed to lower pricing since normies have already been burned by the last bubble. It likely won't happen again.

99% sure that people who deny this, or compare stocks to crypto, don't know shit about valuation (i.e will never make it).

no it doesn't, it just requires more interested buyers than there are sellers

in simple terms if a bunch of people wanted to enter the market right now and buy BTC for $3600 and the universe banded together and collectively said "nah we aren't selling to you guys for $3600, but we'll sell for $7500" the price jumps up to $7500 with very little "new money" entering the market.

Basically it's just supply and demand that can cause huge price/mcap shifts without much actual new capital

>All memes aside, who THE FUCK is going to buy stocks in the next bullrun?

It's called market cycles dipshit. People got in and they are hurt, still feeling the pain. But this is actually good because humans are irrational. When the next bull run starts (or, well, becomes apparent to even the public) they will get not only the urge to make easy money, but the urge to make back what they lost and get revenge on the market. They will literally buy back in but now they will probably make up some rule like "Ok I'll get out faster than before if things go bad" but then they won't and it's going to be free shekels for everyone else.

I mean, do you know how many times the stock market has absolutely KEKED and BLACKED the public? Do you also know how many times they go back into it? The reality is that you get what you want out of the markets, and most people have more money than they deserve/want so they subconsciously let the market take it away from them.

You think they are going to remember a fucking thing about bitcoin in a year or two? Not likely unless the (((media))) gives them a reminder. You underestimate greed, a group of whales all coming together could trigger the next bullrun after the halvening and we would see the same shit we saw in every previous bull run(5x the previous ATH). I’m perfectly fine accumulating over the next year or two and giving the space time to at least make up with a convincing lie of how it’s about to be adopted and how it will change tech forever. I’d rather gamble on this in the short term and make bank in my youth that wait 20 years for it to make roughly the same gains in boomer stocks after my best years were spent at a soul sucking wagecuck office job.

When I bought into Crypto at 20KUSD per BTC, I had to ask myself what 20KUSD actually is. It's a mediocre amount in all reality, whether or not you may in your own personal view find it to be a large sum. You can make 20KUSD back within two weeks if you have an OK job. Even as a neetbux retard you could potentially get 20Kna month. What is 20K if it can turn into 10K? 5K? 1K? How fast would I be able to lose my entire investment? These are the questions you need to ask yourself, these are what actually matter. Apply this same logic to 15K and you have your answer, 15K is absolutely buttfuck nothing, and in the end if it turns out you spend 15-21K buying some buttcoins and they drop, well that sucks, but it's a small finite sum that you'll be able to pay back off.
