'Have I become a successful trader' was the question at hand...well, let's see. No, I guess I cannot say I am. I am more of a investor, I guess or if I am allowed some liberty here, I could say I am a positional trader. I made <40 trades in a time of 4,5 years. I always made money (=I never lost money). I did 95% equity trades, 3 trades with derivatives all of them targeted at non-equity markets. If you want to know more, feel free to ask me - within reason - anything.

Not an easy question to answer. I can tell you what I did: I never studied anything business related till my last days at university out of curiosity. This is around 5 years ago. In this 5 years I read books, forums, watched podcasts, got a job in banking industry, educated myself about markets, trading strategies, talked to people in the industry as well as laymen. I never stopped being interested in investing and trading and the markets ever since. I had my "FX is the way to go" phase, my "commodities futures are the real deal" phase and so on. I guess you could describe this as an heuristic approach to finance and it is kind of natural to me, because I had to orientate myself in an environment totally foreign to me. I guess I can recommend this, but you could just start with some of these introductory text books for corporate finance. This will be a nice primer.

Just don't fall for the trading literature, too early. This is important, because if you do not have some knowledge you will find it very hard to determine the snake oil princes from proper...well let's say...scientifically feasible literature. If you are specifically interested in how trading at banks is done, you should look at: Duhon, Terri - How the Trading Floor Really Works [2012]. Should you be interested in how a market as an abstract concept works, see: Harris, Larry - Trading and Exchanges [2003] and Johnson, Barry - Algorithmic Trading and DMA [2010].

Yeah I can tell you haven't even take any courses, he's basically headhunting for good traders to either work with his firm's money or sell off to hedge funds for extra cash, so he gives you everything you need to be successful, doesn't focus on TA bullshit, and you just have to put in the work

What does that even mean? Retail traders by being taught TA are somehow tricked into applying TA-"techniques" (note: I do certainly not believe TA to be a mathematically sound method let alone something you could call an algorithm) so they would in a statistically relevant number of cases fall for market maker's 'strategy' to catch their limit orders? Is it that? Boy, oh boy, so things like Dow Theory, Gann Theory or Fibonacci's are somehow made up so especially market makers could take advantage of their trading approach? Why is it, that what market makers actually do is so seldomly understood correctly by most of you? (I was just explaining this the other day...) A market maker by being granted the desired role of a designated sponsor at the exchange for a specific (not necessarily singular) asset obligates itself to always (!) quote prices for sell and buy offers in this asset. He has some discretion as to how he can react to volatility, but he has to - under all circumstances (this goes at least for burgerland) - respect the NBBO (national best bid/offer). that it is by way of spreads that he makes his outcome? He does not do proprietary trading in that he somehow predicts market movements... It is rather that he simply does not care as to how and where the market moves (within reason, of course, this has to do with volatility).

Ok, an example...I was looking at combinations of TWAP's and VWAP's of a particular stock some time ago and came to a quite clear conclusion that the price of the stock considering the given intervals in range and volume was significantly mean reverting for the time being. I then went on aggregating and digesting all the fundamental data about the company I thought valuable to draw a fundamental picture of the stock (this also included modest attempts at grasping the sentiment around given stock). I then determined the supposed range in which the stock traded on a time frame of 5 days convinced that there were no high probabilities of either very good or very bad news coming up with regards to said company. In quite exactly 1,5 months of time I then traded the stock 5 times (= 5 round trips) making profits of

0.99%
2.03%
1.08%
0.87%.

In cash this sums up to roughly 1730 € in a 45 days period of investing with a bankroll of a bit over 29k.
