Okay, I might be bullshitting here but I think it has to do with merging as much aspects of your life as possible. That space looks like a warehouse to me. Empty warehouses were used for illegal techno parties primaly during the 1990s. What you see here is putting your workplace in a space that's usually associated with partying by the kind of people you see there. The flexibility meme ties in here, too. Why bother with fixing the ceillings when you there's a chance that you have to entirely leave the day after tomorrow?
