Flower breeding system is working!

Alpha release is scheduled for Q1 2019.

Flowerpatch is a browser-based cannabis farming & cryptocurrency MMORPG currently in development. Players will manage their virtual farms through planting and harvesting cannabis crops. The FLOWER tokens (cards) - acquired through market purchases, player trades, harvesting, and breeding - are used by players to plant new and potentially unique flowers on their farms.

The game will feature a breeding system which will enable players to combine FLOWER cards in attempts to gain desirable traits in unique offspring FLOWERs. Randomization algorithms may also grant these offspring stats or traits not found on either parent.

Harvesting a flower may yield SEED or NUG tokens and potentially a FLOWER card.
SEED tokens will be used as in-game (in-world) currency to purchase additional farming land, better farming equipment, and other items.
NUG tokens will be redeemable (like vouchers/gift cards) in the real world for real cannabis, at supported cannabis dispensaries in areas where recreational cannabis is legal.

Inspired by farming games like Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, and Minecraft (farming/botany addons), the Flowerpatch developers are hoping to make the best multi-player farming game and the best cannabis game. Pic related is a real card that was made today through breeding two flowers together, by a user.
Most breeding will result in commons, but the rarity of the parents and their mutability improve the chances. Probably more cost effective than market-buying a rare, but at least with the market rares you know what you're getting.

In terms of breeding, I'd say so.
Your offspring have a chance of inheriting the stats from their parents so the better the card generally the better the offspring.

However, when the game gets to the alpha stage, you're going to be able to plant your flowers, so even the commons will be yielding SEED, and potentially other flower drops

Even people with commons can end up getting lucky and breeding up to unusuals and beyond

Yeah thanks >>12444583 for pointing that out - there's some farming land system in the works (i.e. where you plant your crops). SEED tokens you earn from harvesting will allow you to get more farming land, so having a few epics to fill up a smaller farm will be better than having too many commons and not enough farmland.
Would like to give you a better answer, but the devs are still working out those details

By the way, if you guys are having trouble seeing the /breed page, do CTRL+F5 on that page to force-reload. Some users who have been on the site before were reporting caching problems, so doing that should clear the cached data for the page.

Just think of the weed as a bonus for people who play the game.
There's going to be room to grow on that end of it if they can pull it off.
FLOWER tokens are what you plant, which you can later harvest for SEED (in-game currency), NUG (used like vouchers to buy weed at dispos), and (low chance) possibly another FLOWER. The devs still aren't certain on how those with NUG who don't live in weed-legal areas will use the token; it might just be that you'll have to use a 3rd party service if you want to exchange it, or maybe you'll just be able to trade it in for some additional SEED tokens.
