Tip for catching forming bubbles: keep a casual eye on futures but make sure you're looking at the whole spread of commodities rather than just the index futures. That is how I caught the rising interest in battery metals in 2017 relatively earning before it really bubbled. I saw natural gas spike in November 2018 but it shot up so fast I missed the train. Gotta agree with the netflix bear. It's irrationally valued, unless netflix can extract more fees from their users somehow, which it doesn't seem like they can. Netflix also spends a lot of money on "originals" and such instead of being a lean and relatively neutral content platform.

Their revenue is under 16bn while their market cap is over 145bn... and their profits swing between $1 per share and 0.1$ per share while share price exceeds $350.

Not only are they likely poorly managed, but even if they were well managed, there isn't a large enough total addressable market for them now or in the next few years to take more share in in order to justify even a third of their share price.

They would need to find some creative way of extra-monetizing their content with extra flavour fluff sold via microtransactions similarly to the game industry or something.

The rise of competitors will stifle them growing with the total addressable market too. The investor base consists of irrational fans, fomoers and sentiment speculators who take advantage of the two other groups.

There exists no reasonable cogent defense of the netflix share price. I tried really hard to find one, but it doesn't seem to exist.

Except options always lose theta value over time and they're often sold with the volatility baked in. You can't hold them and wait for a random spike like you can with penny stocks, because even if a spike does occur you'd have to pray its large enough to offset the time value lost, otherwise theres no profit. Like in order to profit with options buying consistently you gotta pray for macroeconomic snafus that cause extra unexpected volatility and then be right about the direction the stock moves on top of that. Its possible to win, but its not a game worth playing in the long run.

Unless you're talking about writing options. Theres a lot of money to be made in that, but you need to have a decent amount of money on the line in order to write options that people will actually want to buy. And we're all broke LARPers here.
