>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, Pendulum is the king of cope, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

this, since there's been the uncertainty regarding the rate at which yields will increase, nobody really wants to get locked into a long term commitment if they're able to get a better yield in a relatively short time frame or something. I mean we're looking at a vehicle that's used to moving at like 2 mph, the fact that the rate has increased so rapidly relative to the time frame these things take to mature, there's quite a bit of uncertainty, which is actually quite fascinating since it's literally a fixed vessel that shouldn't have any uncertainty to it what so ever.

Honestly you gotta do your own research. Then decide if the risk is worth it. But personally I'm betting on AMRN. All the signs are pointing at one thing: Mega Profits. The even better part is that Profit can come in two ways:
1. Drug Sales
2. Buyout.

Either way, your gonna be making a killing. The only thing holding it back is the FDA. Once they green light it; wham, the stock will skyrocket, buyout offers will be floated, the Mega Profit Train will leave the station and anyone not onboard will get ran over.

BTC is not private or fungible.

What use does a large corporate entity or institution have with a coin that can be analysed through chain analysis so that their competitors, foreign governments, or other bad actors can analyse all of their transactions data?

Information leaked includes relationships, supply chains, profit and loss information, accumulated wealth, and more.

For people serious about Business Monero is the answer. Data mining will be a serious issue for commercial deployments.

>Publix issued this response:

>We were recently made aware of an additional undercover video, which was taken at McArthur Farms. We are upset by the images and disturbed by the cruelty shown toward the animals. As soon as we were made aware of the behaviors in the video, we immediately suspended receiving raw milk product from this McArthur farm. While we carry numerous products from Dean Foods Company, which owns the McArthur Dairy brand and dairy processing plant in Miami, Dean Foods does not own or control any dairy farms and is in no way involved in the management of McArthur Farms.

>At Publix, we care about and are committed to animal welfare. We continue to work with Southeast Milk Incorporated (SMI) Cooperative and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to advance efforts that continuously improve the safety and well-being for all animals. By the end of this week, all SMI member farms will have completed animal welfare training under The National Dairy Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) Program in cooperation with the National Milk Producers Federation. In addition, we have conducted our own, independent, on-site animal welfare assessments on over a dozen dairy farms in Florida. We will continue to conduct these audits and remain focused on working with suppliers who share our values and goals.

I can't believe these bulls actually think they're back. Just looking at the S&P 500 and you'll see their's a roughly 600 point gap between the 52 week high and low(2940-2340). S&P is at 2530, so the bulls have made roughly 200 back. That's only 1/3 of the losses made back. I think it's very reasonable to say bulls are back only after around 2630+ happens.

By the way I'm not a bull or bear just someone who looks at things logically.

Short selling requires margin since you're literally borrowing from your broker and owe them shares in the process. You can, however, buy inverse funds or (presumably) purchase a put.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend short selling unless you're an institution or qualify for rebates for some reason. Ordinary retail investors just get the proceeds from the short sale automatically swept into a low-interest money market fund or equivalent, and you have to pay interest on the share loan for that privilege--usually upwards of 10%. It's a bad deal for retailers.

That's not the calculation you would use for the potential returns on investment. When dealing with risk and uncertainty you would use the equation of pascal's wager.

Let's take powerball for example, and for simplicity's sake just the second place 1 million dollar prize. There is a 1 in 12,607,306 chance to win the prize.

The probability of winning is 1/12607306 you multiply it by the payout if you win which is 1,000,000 and then you add the probability of loosing times it's expected layout but since we're not worrying about the lesser prizes that's at zero.

This makes the average payout for this investment strategy about $.08

Well by the same logic the fastest way to make money is to just wait for bill gates to pull your name out of a hat when he's feeling generous. Literally any random, extremely unlikely event could happen to suddenly make you a lot of money, but it wouldn't be an investment.

You can only even treat the lottery as an investment if you plan to constantly buy tickets for it and accept that average return as the most likely possibility.

Some analysis. Smaller specs buy "cheapies" at the low of the year. Quite a few get blown out after the drop, but the ones that held on sold out once they got close to break even causing that recent dip along with some short term shorts. Meanwhile large bulls are loaded to the gills (horns) at ~2340 and reloaded again about 2440, putting their average around the mid-upper 2300s. So with Friday's close we're at the lows of last year with the recent bulls sitting on a comfortable profit and earnings on the way (also of note is that this is already pricing in Aapl's downward guidance).
