I worked on a fishing boat in alaska for years, now I'm in the oil field making moves and climbing the ladder to success all while destroying my body at a young age. To answer your question, you have to work in and learn the broad overview of the industry (including related industries) and socialize with people above you to the point that you are worth more as a person who knows things and can get big shit done with your people skills and insights into the industry than you can as a local manager. I talked extensively with an ex-special forces dude who started a very succesful defense contracting company with his ex squad mates, and that's basically what they all did. Got good at killing people and socializing with pertinent interested parties so that they could get good deals on equipment and solicit for comfy mercenary jobs around the world.

You'd have a better chance in construction, far less competent competition and banks like it more. You can work your way up for experience, schooling on the side and then start on your own small scale. Those industries you listed are so insanely capital-intensive and reliant on political contacts it's basically a lost cause.
