What are you on?
Do you know where do come the expression "being born with a silver spoon in the mouth"? It's not to say someone come from a rich family like most brainlets think, it signify you have a very good health and you never get ill.

Why do you think cutlery was made specifically with silver and any other metal?
It's because silver have fungicide properties and act as a natural anti bacterian. Each time you put a silver spoon in your mouth you swallow a very tiny quantity of silver.
It's the most used metal by the pharmaceutical sector.
Stop speaking when you know nothing nigger.

The removal of fiat currency from a PM standard has really screwed everything up. If it corrects back, it will be a huge problem for a lot of people, but ultimately it will be a benefit for everyone in general. For nearly all of human history, an ounce of silver could feed a family for a week, and a quarter ounce could have a skilled laborer with an apprentice work on a building project for a day. Unskilled labor, like farmhand work, would cost no more than 1/10 oz of silver for a day.

Even before the PM standards were ditched, post-WWII inflation was starting to get silly. In 1964, when the minimum wage was $1.25, those five silver quarters would have a junk silver value today of around $15 (and silver is at a big low right now - a few years ago, those 5 quarters would have been worth $25.)

Silver is good. You might not have it "moon" like some more speculative investment, but it really isn't going to go down much more because the fixed costs of mining it prevent that. It could easily double or triple in a year or two, and it's not unforseeable that it could go way beyond that. But its best use is really as a store of value that protects against some Venezuela-level situation. If you've got small denomination silver, you've got real money when the fiat goes bust and isn't worth jack. The fact that it has value internationally hedges against any one country's stupid economic collapses, holders of silver (and gold) will still have value when fiat currency isn't worth toilet paper, and there always will be people operating that market to exchange goods for PM. Only better investment I can think of for serious collapse might be ammo (great for trading, but too many "denominations") or canned goods/nonperishable items (what literally everyone needs, but hard to haul around and protect.) Silver is a medium of exchange that works, especially in small denominations. Collect Mercury dimes and old Liberty or Franklin half dollars. Always a market.

Meh, go for the silver. ASE's are nice, so are Maples. Whatever's cheapest where you are. There's something satisfying about buying stuff you can actually hold in your hand as opposed to hoping the bank doesn't fuck up. Kind of spurs some interest in collection, too, makes you want to buy a little more here or there where you might not really have an urge to throw another $50 into savings.

Yeah, it's nice having a shiny 150 sitting around. I'm considering shares in Target as well. I think that my current positioning should be to minimize exposure to cash because my job doesn't really pay enough if things go really south. I have a small managed investment portfolio as a part of my parents investments which is about 50,000% of my current assets, so I figure that I'm more than covered there. I was considering holding off until 2020 because pms tend to sell to cover stock positions in a crisis. Stock market will also likely tumble after 2019 because it's an election year 2020... But i've heared they want to modify the law to get the TA applied on coins too for 2019, that's why i wanted to buy some before it get enacted .France is beyond the bankrupcy point, the gubment invent new taxes on a daily basis (i wish i was joking/exagerating but that's for real). They can't pay pensions, they don't even pay the soldiers anymore, sell all the palaces/museum/airports, even our beaches but it's not enough. Our first spending is the payement of the (((national debt))) INTERESTS (about 85 billions€ per year) who go directly to the kikes, while they force us to import millions of niggers.
The situation is fucking critical here. In my town 60% of the shops closed in the past few years, the downtown look like a ghost city while the supermarkets are filled with niggers. I just see niggers everywhere when i get out it's fucking spoopy. Detroit or Baltimore are more white than my town i swear. Of course they all are on gibs.

>> No.12267266

>>12266945
Well, yes and no. Spot price would be the basic value whether you brought in a broken silver chain, a bent in half 1964 US quarter, an American Silver Eagle, or a beautiful delicate silver bracelet. It's melt value (even though there usually isn't much need for anyone to actually melt anything).

An American Silver Eagle, for example, gets maybe a $2 premium over spot price. This is because it has some value based on the fact that it's issued by the US government, the ASE is pretty well recognized as being actual silver whereas a "Mike's Silver Palace" commemorative token isn't, and the fact that it costs money to mint them in that form.

Now, let's say spot is at about $15, where it is now. In the US, I can buy an ASE for about $17. Assuming spot price stays the same, the middleman will want to make a profit so if I resell it the next day, they may want only to give me $14-$15. That depends on how much they really want that silver, just like any commodity. What's the demand? Do they have buyers jumping to snap it up? You do have a little more haggling power with an ASE than with, say, a bent 1964 US quarter or a broken silver chain, and they might be willing to give you even more than an ASE value for some intricately worked piece of silver jewelry because they can mark it up for the artistic aspect.

Generally speaking, though, people buy and sell ASE's every day, the middleman coin shop/pawn shop guy figures out what's worth his time to deal with it and that's what you get for selling or what you pay to buy. In real life, if I had a car I was selling for $1700, and you had 100 ASE's, I'd go for an even trade or even maybe take 90 or 95 because ASE's are an awesome investment and store of value and my $1700 car isn't. If you owed me $100 and offered to settle that debt for 5 ASE's, I'd take it in a heartbeat and you'd be better off than paying me in fiat cash.

Yeap, sorry, I didn't read that it before posting fren. That description will perfect match to Spain as well, with the last goverment the sittuation was terrible, but Sanchez is going tax-pillager full mode. A good part of Europe is in a similar perspective, totally fucked up and too weak to resist the global recesion coming without collapsing. The only good point about Spain compared to France is not being swarmed of niggers and moors that hard, but our politicians are doing their bests to catch up. Unluckly Greece seems like a mirror of a close future, desu I just want this to collapse as soon as possible, the longer it takes the worse will be the hit and recovery. I was about to ask this, it's often what happen when ppl think they have a big nose, it's not the nose the issue but the fact they are chinlets.

Breath with your nose not your mouth, keep it closed at all time. Chew gums all day long. Train yourself to keep your jaw pushed forward all the time, even when you are sleeping. It's all about muscles. It will solve the issue after few months.

Sure.... if in the current fiat paradigm you go sell your silver now and it's tarnished you might get 50 cents or maybe even a dollar less for it.

But you aren't buying silver to get back more worthless dollars in the first place. You want and need that silver for its weight in the new paradigm

Silver bros, here is my haul for the day. 1 silver Washington quarter 1957. Picked up 6 banks rolls earlier today and it took less than 15 minutes to sift through it, one roll at a time. Just avoid state quarters and 65% is already out of the way. I'm trying to develop a system to weigh the roll to see if it has any silver to begin with. Regular quarters are .20 oz. Silver ones are almost always .22 oz. Randomly, 1965-69 are not silver but weigh .21 oz and occassionally .22 oz. Its probably not worth the trouble, but its free silver and kind of enjoyable.

Usually there are 10 times more silver extracted than gold from mining. And mines specialized on silver mining are very rares since it's a byproduct of others metals, you have a dozen worldwide, most are in south america. It's very undervalued relative to gold. Given that there is 1 ounce of gold for every 17.5 ounces of silver, silver should be worth about 1/20th of gold, but it is at 1/60th or less rn. If that adjusts upwards you could see huge returns.

Also it's a safe store of value. People have used it as money since before history.

And if you look at the last time the stock market really started to crash, before QE3 in 2011, it hit 50 an ounce. In the next crash there will be no QE, so it should hit and surpass that, at least I think so.

yeah we get fucked by every hole on a daily basis.

Speaking of stamped moneteary value, how the countries decide which number to put on their coins?
For example :
- 1oz philarmoniker : 1.50€
- 1oz britannia : 2£
- 1oz dollar : 1$
- 1oz maple leaf : 5$CAD
- 30gr panda : 10 yuan
- 1oz kookaburra : 1$AUS

This is painfully and obviously under appreciated on purpose. It wasn't like this before. I remember when i was a kid the 50F hercules silver were really worth around 50 francs. You could go to the banque de France and exchange the coin for 50 francs back then.

Tin foil hat time : could it be a way for the countries to reclaim back the coins and give you the equivalence in fiat? Through history countless times the realms/empires/republic forcefully took the gold and silver owner by their citizens in exchange of worthless war bonds to finance their wars.
Let say it's war time, the gubment make a martial law forcing the citizens to exchange their PM for fiat, you own 300 oz liberty coins and the gubment come to you and force you to take 300$ in fiat for those 300 coins and say "it's fair, don't you saw it was written 1 dollar on the back of the coin? =)"
After all the silver coins are issued by national banks or the jew scam FED treasury for the mutts, and have legal tender. Legally you can walk in the barber shop and pay him 20 oz for a new haircut.

I bought silver for the first time yesterday, Im a Colombianfag so the price here is a bit cheaper: $20 for 50 grams at a jewelry shop.

This is something I can see myself getting into, not so much as an investment but more of an alternative to keeping my money in the bank.

I earn $1200 a month (believe it or not thats a decent wage here for someone my age).

I was thinking of buying 100 grams of silver and 2 grams of gold (around $90 at its current price) each month.

I dont mind minor fluctuations and want to keep the metals long term, probably just sell them in a case of extreme urgency or if the price increases drastically (30%+).

How safe is gold as an investment right now? will we ever see silver dropping to $5 per ounce again? what about gold prices dropping $200-300 per ounce in the short-middle term? is that a real possibility? what could bring something like that about?
