I'm feeling very similarly and I actually sat here for a few minutes contemplating what to say because I actually am taking you seriously and don't want you to kill yourself. I wish I had some sort of optimism but I don't know what to even tell myself anymore, let alone another person. I've rewritten this post multiple times now and here's the best I got: you're at a point where you have nothing to lose right? Well, live that way now. This is going to be a pretty controversial opinion, but maybe it's time to start accepting the fact that millions, if not billions, of people are going to start killing themselves soon and start celebrating the lives of people we suspect won't be able to continue. Maybe, instead of trying to talk people out of things, it's time to find people who we suspect are on the edge and do something nice with them while they are still here.

It doesn't have to be expensive, but just pleasant. Take them to a local water front, make them a meaningful present, or figure out what their favorite activity was when they were kids and do that with them. I just don't think there's going to be a solution to all our mounting problems and so the sad fact is a lot of good, but weaker, people are going to have their hands forced into very grim and mortal decisions. And so in the small remaining time they have, perhaps it's time for all of us to decide to make their final years or months as happy as possible.

The idea that you should be more "interested" in people and that this will make you more interesting to them is flawed. If anything, being entertaining -- what people mean when they say "personality" -- is caring less about what anyone thinks and saying whatever stupid BS comes to mind, simply because you want to say it.
