I have no idea what is meant by words such as 'bond', 'security', 'index', 'short', 'bet against'... Where do ordinary people learn this stuff? Where does ANYONE learn this? In business school? I mean I remember 10 years ago we had an intro to economics in high school and we learned about like... supply and demand? And we read a book or something? But other than that I have no clue. I went to the bank a few days ago to talk to a financial adviser and she just tried to woo me with words like "mutual fund" and "indices". I refuse to believe that ordinary people know what any of this means. By 'ordinary' I don't mean trailer trash pabst drinking ordinary, I mean like average Joe middle income.ordinary. I just can't begin to imagine where anyone could learn this stuff if they didn't go to university to specifically study business/finance. If you go to wikipedia to look up, say, what a security is, you just get stuck going deeper and deeper into different articles because every one of these terms is described by other similar professional jargon terms and the laymen descriptions (ie "bet against") are deceptively simple and don't really describe what's happening at all.

Everybody is taught math and biology in school for 12 years but somehow this body of knowledge that everyone seemingly expects me to be fluent in gets left out. I mean if it's like that then yeah, I guess I need to learn it on my own. I am merely making the observation that it's a little odd that this is never explicitly explained to you like pretty much everything else you need in life and you somehow just need to find the motivation to self-teach this 10 years later when it occurs to you that you might need to know it.

How can I help myself if I don't even know where to begin? I just said that when I try to look up any term, it's described with more jargon. It's like a bottomless pit. I get that everyone on 4chan is a 160 IQ autodidact, but come on.

Most financial instruments are intentionally a) confusing to understand and b) sound boring as tits, for the express purpose of getting normies to fuck off while businesschads make bank with them. And also to dupe regulators so that they don't realize most of them essentially constitute a leveraged bet on someone else's leveraged bet, building a house of cards that inevitable tumbles to the ground every decade or two (which is also part of the plan... this way they can make money on the way up and then short the economy on the way down).

The entire economy is one monstrous pump and dump scam and you're such a small fry that you're not even invited to participate in the bottom of the pyramid (ie, retail suckers). You just participate indirectly via index funds and 401ks.

indices are pretty much all you need to know as a basic bitch investor.

yes you will probably need a year of reading to have some vague idea of "finance". but if you've already given up now, you neither have the brains or determination.

You could literally have learned what all the words you mentioned mean in the time it it took you to write this posts. All of them are pretty simple concepts. You can get a solid basic understanding of finance/investing by reading a textbook on corporate finance. In fact, I think everyone should do that before they start investing (or let other people invest for them).

This one is pretty good imo. If you can’t be bothered to read a book about finance, then I don’t know what to tell you. I guess you’ll just have to blindly trust your financial advisor.

Forgot pic. It will teach you most of the things you need to know about investing/finance. If you want to learn about economics in general, read some textbooks about micro and macroeconomics.

OP I feel you but hear me out, it's a mere veil of complexity, it's flimsy af and once you start understanding it you see it's really easy and obvious.

It's also really easy and obvious to see that most NPC's operate life as mere observers, and the background noise the media and school echoes in their heads leads them to debt slavery. Like cattle, they lack awareness .

I've been saying this shit to normies but all I get is that souless stare and "wow man you should really help me out sometime with my investments"

unironical 153iq autodidact autist here and i feel most "intellectual" fields are shock-full of jargon only to make insecure 110-130iq types more confident, an artificial barrier of entry to give them illusory superiority over the plebs. very few things are so complicated you can't explain them in simple words
don't despair OP, there's plenty of people who feel like you do and some of them make accessible courses/books. don't waste your time with pompous faggots when there's assuredly some material somewhere on the internet with what you want. just takes googling around

Start with “A Random Walk On Wallstreet” followed by “The Intelligent Investor” and you’ll know everything you really need to know. Assuming you’re willing to read something, sounds like you’re just a basic bitch brainlet tho
