If you're the same OP as last night, I posted in that thread about how I am about to start. Asked a few questions but had to bail before I was answered. Mind repeating those for me?

looked for it in the archives this morning but couldn't find it. sorry champ. here is a picture of a smiling axolotl to take the sting out though.

>>12241087
they go for anywhere between $20-80 per axolotl. cost fuck all to set up and maintain, and spawn clutches of eggs from about 100-1000. Raise them like tadpoles until a certain size, then separate them at about half an inch, into relatively similar sized groups (physically) so they don't start cannibalizing each other too much. depending on how well you are set up you should be able to keep losses to a minimum and make a decent profit.

>>12241091
apparently they were eaten for years as a Mexican delicacy. So I assume so.

nice. do they just need the same setup a goldfish would need? i'd probably get a big tank just to give these little guys a nice life

Thanks for the info.

What is best way to start? Get male and female and wait for the magic?

How many "breeding seasons" do they have?

they dont have seasons, they just fuck and make eggs asap.
the biggest problem with axolotls is that they need this range of 60-65f temp. they are VERY sensitive about this.

>> No.12241191

>>12241148
at full size they need about 20 gallons per axolotl. so it can be expensive to keep them all. but when small you can raise them like so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m22fgAlq0o8&ab_channel=JulesAskalotl
they are messy critters though, so will need a bit more tank maintenance than a goldfish.

>>12241161
Not sure, as I am just looking to start myself, but that is pretty much my plan; try to pick up a breeding pair and just give them a good environment to breed in. And hope for the magic to happen. I hear they can breed 1-3 times a year.

>>12241176
and yeah, what this guy says. they like cooler water and need it to be happy. apparently raising the temp by a few degrees can help bring on mating though. Just make sure you don't do it constantly.
