I tried explaining this concept to a couple of VC friends. The crazy part is their SF office is down the street from smartcontracts HQ in SF. They know them, they've met them, they know SM/CL is legitimate.

But the issue that holds VCs up, or st least the one I associate with is that their network model is run via a utility token. And that seems to be the biggest hurdle for some of this top level dudes who don't like CL.
