i used to laugh at this shit too but decided to try it 100%. it fucking works, but it took me a couple years to actually get the truth out of it learning on my own.
it's literally this simple:

if you believe you can or you can't, you're right.

I dont think Hery Ford "visualized" anything, nor did Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.

They were just good at what they did and met a need which wasnt met by the existing products, consistently.

Napoleon Hill is the one who popularizer this thing about "Visualizing", gurus just repeat this meme over and over because the idea is sellable.

Well I mean, its not bad advice. People get a little hippie dippie about it, and go overboard with the whole "visualize" thing. Though on the other hand the vast majority of people just don't really think about money, or investment ever. Statistically speaking about 70% of people have less than 1000 dollars saved, 34% have almost nothing. So it makes sense that people offering advice would say "Dude don't spend every dollar the moment you get it you idiot." a lot.

Visualization is practice. Suppose you're bad at saving money. If you often imagine yourself behaving in a way that saves you money (I won't buy a monster energy drink every day, because I know it will save me money!), you are preparing to behave that way when the opportunity actually happens. It's generalizable to everything. Athletes can quickly learn a new movement by watching someone else do it, imagining how they'd do it themselves, and then physically doing it, refining by visualizing what went wrong. It's only hippy dippy when you visualize bullshit that has nothing to do with realistic behavior.
