Crypto can’t exist in a vacuum (if you want it to be worth more than $0.00). You have to cooperate with the powers that be because they have armies and nukes. Monero will get shut the fuck down at the first high profile case of money laundering or terrorism using it. The government already used terrorism to justify reading your emails—think they won’t be willing to lock up Monero node operators?

this applies to drugs, not currencies. currencies only work if you can trade them for other currencies. if the government outlaws Monero, then you won’t find any exchange to buy and sell Monero for real money. the only alternative would be meeting someone in an alley who might be an undercover cop, and at that point, you might as well be using cocaine as your medium of exchange.

Quiet? No, I just don't know what else I can say to convince you that crypto isn't dead since you think history is a useless indicator for some reason. For you to say that the burden of proof is on me while a single bitcoin costs $3000 is a fucking joke. If you can't see the value in a trustless, immutable, uncensorable ledger then you're either very naive or willfully stupid. Maybe both.

Also, crypto doesn't need mass adoption, it just needs to be a secure store of value that acts in tandem with other assets. People that think crypto will "replace any currency" are probably delusional and that's not something I ever said would happen in this thread. As for the governments? Governments can't shut down the idea behind cryptography. What are they going to do? Stop people from using math? Get fucking real and read up on how all of this shit works. I'm not going to spoonfeed you any more.

>I just don't know what else I can say to convince you that crypto isn't dead since you think history is a useless indicator for some reason.

Not dead, but 10 years in the history of mankind is fuckola. Can anyone on the entire planet say for a fact it will live or die? No, but you think you can.
>For you to say that the burden of proof is on me while a single bitcoin costs $3000 is a fucking joke
A btc today is $3k, it was $19.5k months ago & $5 when I bought my first internet rupees. All that proves is that the price is unstable.
Anything that completely erratic is not a store of value, it's a volatile, high risk investment. Like a junk bond or a penny stock.
> If you can't see the value in a trustless, immutable, uncensorable ledger then you're either very naive or willfully stupid. Maybe both.
I do, but the bandwagon of gooks, pajeets & neckbeards that copypasta'd code chased the good money away. These cunts made crypto a joke & surly even you can see that. When CSW makes a new real bitcoin every 9 months how is anyone supposed to take it seriously?
>it just needs to be a secure store of value that acts in tandem with other assets.
Like what? Fiat? Shiny rocks? Child porn?
>Governments can't shut down the idea behind cryptography. What are they going to do? Stop people from using math?

Cryptography is not crypto-currency, they are two different things. Gov'ts can & do monitor, shut down protocols & tech all the time.
>Get fucking real and read up on how all of this shit works. I'm not going to spoonfeed you any more.
Did enough of that while getting my CS degree & working as a blockchain dev.

>Can anyone on the entire planet say for a fact it will live or die? No, but you think you can.
I really don't think it's such a huge stretch to say that cryptocurrency will continue to exist despite price fluctuations.
>All that proves is that the price is unstable.
You just said that the 10 years of its existence is such a vanishingly small amount of time so as to be meaningless, so why are you basing its ability to be a store of value off of such a short timeframe and using that volatility as your indicator?
>the bandwagon of gooks, pajeets & neckbeards that copypasta'd code chased the good money away
Yes, but this is most likely temporary. People will continue to speculate on crypto from now until we are both dead.
>Like what? Fiat? Shiny rocks?
Anything. As long as you can trade it for something else it has some kind of value. If it wasn't obtained through PoW then it wouldn't be worth something in the first place, but it was, and here we are.
>Cryptography is not crypto-currency, they are two different things. Gov'ts can & do monitor, shut down protocols & tech all the time.
I wasn't implying they are the same, but so long as cryptography is legal we will have cryptocurrency. You seem to put a lot of faith in the government's (as if there is only one in the world) ability to shut down crypto. I am skeptical that they will be able to because it seems futile to try. They may even be incentivized to keep it around for reasons of their own.
