12112160 No.12112160 [Reply] [Original]

I’m unironically sleeping in my car tonight because my dad just kicked me out of the house for being a failure. I’m not even a NEET, I have a college degree and make $15/hr. He kicked me out saying I have no future. Dont want to waste my money on a motel. Any advice?

Status update: all I brought with me is my phone, wallet, and a change of clothes for work tomorrow. I’m ganna go to my gym to shower and tidy up. Will probably pick up some fast food for dinner after and find a secluded spot to sleep at. Then I’ll sneak home tomorrow to get the rest of my belongings when my dad leaves for work.

Keep staying in the car, other than gas and maintenance things you don't really have bills and mortgage to foot. Robert Kiyosaki, the guy who wrote Rich Dad, Poor Dad, was in the same circumstance, except he had his wife stay with him which I think was a hell of a lot harder to bear.

Update: i’m browsing apartments in my city, there is no way I can afford rent even for a studio with my current wage. I have a $10k car loan thats $200 a month plus gas is $300. In between cellphone, utilities, food, and miscellaneous expenses there is no way. I need at least double what im making now. I should get a night job, but its hard when I have a 8-5. I have No friends to crash on couches and no family for 300 miles

Do you have a friend u can couchsurf with or 24 hour library near you or a tent or something? Hotel is not a bad idea for one night but not worth it for long term.

If you do sleep in a car, I've can give advice since I lived out mine for a couple of months before. Crack the window a tiny bit anon otherwise it will get shitty and humid as fuck from your breath. But don't let even 1 mosquito in, fuckers buzz around like crazy and will bite you.

>I have a college degree.
>I lived at home.
>I'm not a failure.

He didn't mean that you have no future in the job market. He meant that you have no future as a person, as a member of society, he's come to terms with the truth that you'll not carry on his genes.

The way you're reacting to it, like you're a tiny, weak, insecure little babby bitch who must remind himself that having a college degree doesn't make you useless is only making his hatred stronger.

If you could just be a 30-40 year boomer. Enjoy life some. Not be so focused on your minimum wage shit job, and what's guaranteed to be a shit degree in something that doesn't matter.

You lack dignity, self-respect, resourcefulness, and can't adjust to the world around you.

>oh my god, my dad kicked me out!
>this college degree will keep me warm while I shitpost about my shitty job.
>what? Why would I ever tell my dad that this is silly. I'm just gonna take it like a bitch, and panic about this minor change of my everyday life.

Depends on the area, church parking lots or empty parking structures don't usually get patrolled at night and even if it's illegal they won't harass you. Parking on a street or in a business lot you might get ticketed or asked to leave though.

I lived in my suburban for two semesters.
Check if your rear seats fold down so you can put your feet in the trunk for better sleeping.
Also get a warm sleeping bag. Klymit has a 0 degree bag for 80$. At least when I bought mine a couple years ago.

Don't freak out. Sleeping in your car is no big deal (depending on where you are). Big city or small rural/suburban area?

Find a walmart or something. Not too close to the city because it'll probably already be habitated and personnel might be butthurt.
I dunno. You'll be fine. Just figure things out.
Shower at the gym, find places to sleep, eat vegetables, bread, and cottage cheese for nutrition. Don't eat fast food.
If you're partial to milk you can keep it out of a fridge for 24 hours perfectly fine. 48 hours gets to be the turning point in my experience.

>> No.12112672

Drive out to the suburbs. Things can be nicer and people less crazy. Big plazas with things like walmart and planet fitness or something. Pick one that has something that is open for 24 hours so you don't look out of place for being there and park somewhat near the open place.

I lived in my car for a while when shit went down hill.

STEM degree and no one was hiring.

Gym membership is good idea

You can usually hang out at a starbucks and look for work.

Eating out all the time is super expensive though, and wrecks your body.

Typically you can sleep at a truck stop, walmart some major parking lots.

Maybe trade your car in for something a little more suitable?

I made it through, you will too

He can't just kick you out without a written notice. And even if he does give you a written that'll still give you at least a couple months. You are technically a legal tenant and what he is doing is against the law.

Unironically become a roughneck (oil field worker in Midwest- assuring you’re a burger because it sounds like something a parent would do here)

Saw a thread the other day where those guys get like 500 a day with no living expenses, but don’t know much else. doesn’t seem too bad overall though and I don’t think there are any special requirements.

You already have a car and internet (to apply). Which are probably the two highest barriers. Parents kicked you out, no family/friends around so picking up and leaving shouldn’t matter.

You could probably save up 50-60k for a years work, and then have some time to figure shit out from there

Just buy a gym membership and keep sleeping in your car. Maybe relocate, since you have no reason to be near home anymore.

Just think of the positives. You can save 20K+ a year after paying taxes and food, now do the same thing in like San Diego/LA (weather is decent), and make $40/hr+ with very low bills.

Poor anon

Why you didn't offer him some sort of rent money let's say 300$ for staying at home ? Anyone knows that the rent prices are unaffordable...it has nothing to do with having a good degree or good job ... it's just a fact.
If he refuses to your offer then look for a appartment outside of your area with good train / bus connection so you can cheaply commute to your job.
Oh and tell your dad that he is a fat pig who should kill himself, thanks.

Bare minimum adult responsibility level requires that you figure out where you lay your head down at night.
I'm not saying you can't do it for free by depending on another person/s support, but you gotta have that break glass scenario covered with some kind of fallback. As it stands right now this will simply financially hurt, pony up for temporary lodging and dedicate all waking hours to a rental. Go into debt if you have to and then commit every waking hours to making more money to get cash positive.
If you are planning to sleep in your car I fully understand how your dad feels.
