Man, fuck everyone for blaming the 2008 crisis on poor people and immigrants. The mainstream media is so fucking conservative it's ridiculous. Good thing hollywood is fighting the good fight and actually showing the fucking truth behind things and not just spreading republican lies like the MSM always does

I know this is bait but im going to reply anyways.
The government is the culprit when they told banks they had to give mortgage loans to people below a set financial line with the promise that they would bail the banks out if shit hit the fan.

This

The banks did nothing immoral taking peoples money
The people were just stupid that were getting out multiple mortgages and loans they couldn't pay back
The government was the worst as they gave out free money and destroying the benefits of capitalism; that from failed businesses, new business would arise that wouldn't make stupid decisions, now we can live in an inefficient society where banks can do whatever the fuck they want and know that they will never lose money.

Isn't part of running a bank managing risk?

Why didn't' any of the banks blow a whistle on the whole thing? No fucking way did they not see the risk involved.

>> No.1210172

>>1210165
So what if the banks were dumb and didn't see the risk?

If those businesses fail it would create more efficient and 'better' banks as only the smart and safe would survive over time, however, the government bought them out basically stopping the evolution of efficiency in the "free market".

>> No.1210173

>>1210165

they did see the risk but they thought it was very low.

no one expected the problem to be nation wide, they thought the drop in housing prices would only be regional so by diversifying they don't take much risk.

they were wrong of course.

>> No.1210182

>>1210172

I agree it would create a more efficient marketplace; as in the best survive. But to say that the government was the sole cause of it is ridiculous.

They could have been like Wells Fargo and mostly stayed out of that particular sector.

Then when the bailout came and the .gov said 'you take this mountain of money too even though it's not needed', then they bought out Wachovia, restructured the company, fired over 3,000 now redundant employees and gave Dave Kvamme a 12.6 million dollar bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
That same year, Wells Fargo CEO John G. Stumpf was the highest paid banker in the country with a compensation of about 23 million.

Almost as though they rewarded themselves with the savings off those 3,000 employees.

I should have punched Kvamme's stupid face the last time I saw him.
