I buy the most undervalued stocks I find regardless of the grid but I do like the psychological effect of getting paid every week of every month. The current plan is to slowly ease my way in to full-time trading. The security gig pays pretty well for what it is and there is sufficient downtime to monitor my swing trades on the job if i'm at work during day time. That's my current set up and it does work pretty well. Buffet hodl is too slow, requires a lot of cash to see acceptable gains month over month, and requires a level of confidence in the companies you choose as well as your DD beyond what i'm able to muster. Day trading of course does not really allow for lengthy afk during trading hours.

My technique for monitoring stock movements is to identify support and resistance levels for each stock, wrote those down on a sticky note, then set up stop loss and stop-buys (to buy on breakout confirmation) plus price alerts for stuff i don't want to automatically push through a trade on without assessing the situation. Breaking resistance or support is sometimes not an immediate buy or sell signal, depending.

Buy and hold. pick companies that will be around for a long time w/fat divs & yield or bag a s&p 500 index w/ fat div and yield. Enable drip. Add to those positions as funds allow over time. After 20 yrs, turn off the drip. Pocket the nice fat payout(s).

EX: CTL - Cheap (17- 20 per atm) w/fat div (0.54) & yield (11%). 21 of these babies will net you $45 a year right now. I bought all 21 w/comm fee for only $372.50. W/drip you can add two whole CTL shares per yr to your position for free for an expansion of $4.32 each yr. But add to that, surely you can spare the odd $20 or two right?, and that climbs to an $8.62 growth in just div payouts. Then if they hike that div, well your payout will only grow fatter.

My S&P 500 fund is paying out a nice 0.71 div annual. Only costs $35 - 45 range w/ no min investment required. Yes I know a lot of folks say Voo,etc and there is nothing wrong with that but when you break down the costs involved and that pretty much all S&P 500 etf's/funds hold the same companies sometimes you can get a hell of a bargain by looking outside the "box" so to speak. Combined with my other positions long term I'm set for a nice fat payday. Short term: that's what Amrn and NVAX and to a lessor extent SFM is for.
