Do you guys think now that Eth is down to around $100 that it's worth picking up 32 for staking later on? If Eth succeeds I can see it being pretty lucrative in a few years.

>> No.11976181

I think it's a pretty good idea.

Can't wait for ETH to go POS it will be hackers paradise.
The DAO and Parity hack are going to be small compared to the bugs that are going to be exploited in the Ethereum POS code.

You don't think the fact that some of the world's greatest programming minds are working on Ethereum, plus how long they are working on it will prevent that from happening? This isn't some average shitcoin we're talking about

Yeah sure that's why the DAO got hacked, maybe look up what that was about newbie.
Ow and the fact that Gavin created the Parity wallet must really give you confidence that Ethereum POS is going to be secure.

But isn't this good for long term investing? So I lock up 32 eth in a node and I do it on some contract that doesn't allow me to withdraw them for 2 years. Like a timelock, but you enjoy the staking rewards you get in these 2 years

>> No.11976374

Who cares, you're gonna make like 3 pct annual interest. Literally can beat that with one good trade.

The commie whitepaper dreams are : the more you stake, the less profit you take.
Can a large pool avoid this by sharting?
How to prevent it?
Skeleton didn't think that through yet.
Casper in 2019 is optimistic estimate.

Any crypto that is extremely popular and allows you to gain more of it just by holding it is a tool by the financial elite because they will be holding the most and will gain the most by holding a majority of it. Eth staking is for billionaires and millionaires not the pitiful slaves using it to buy groceries.

Meanwhile KMD gives you 5.12% for holding in Agama and has unironically better prospects than ETH. ETH's first mover advantage is dying, as the SEC gets more and more ICOs for on securities violations, projects are going to be liquidating ETH to pay fines. KMD will hit new ATH during the next halvening cycle. I don't think ETH will

Honestly depends on your risk appetite and life situation. If you're making decent money, putting ~3200 on Ether will not break the bank in the long run. If Ethereum succeeds you literally have an infinite money tree on your harddrive, if it fails, you're out of $3200. If that $3200 is literally your rent and medicine money, fuck no.

That's the way I look at it, I make 6 figures and know Ethereum exists, buying at least 32 is suicide prevention, and even if it goes to 0 it's not a catastrophic loss.
