Biggest bar night of the year (aka (embed) (embed)) edition 2.0

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

I just added to my position @ about $13.35. We will see what happens, but if the sale of Spring Mobile goes through, the company will literally have more cash than its market cap.

More likely than not they will reduce that cash position from 1.5B to $800M and pay their long term debt off. Then, they can open up bidding for an acquisition, and sell for 6-8X EBITDA, effectively putting the stock at $18-24 a share. Hard for shareholders to lose money if the Spring Mobile sale goes through unless they get treblinka'd during the Holidays.

why should I care what the share price is if I never intend to sell any of the equities I buy for my divvy portfolio? other than the obvious (fundamental of the company breaks down, they cut their dividend, etc.) I don't really worry about share price. Am I happy if it goes up? Yep. Am I ok with a slump to increase my position in undervalued companies? Absolutely.

This isn't true with all companies, but companies that have paid dividends for 10-50 years and have grown their dividends for 10-50 years without interruption of either, will likely do so for the next 10-20 years minimum.

no, you only owe taxes on shares you sell when you realize a gain. even then the gain is only the difference in share price at time of purchase and share price at time of sale. you'll need to contact your broker to determine how you can indicate which shares you sell.

when I sell shares, I try and make that the shares I sell are counted as a loss instead of a gain for tax purposes. but some brokers have strict either FIFO or LIFO policies for selling shares.

I don't think there's anything better than fucking free open markets. What scares me the most is the populist and socialist movements creeping up around the world. This is very eerily reminiscent of what I could emulate in my own empathy while learning about the early 1900's in all of my history classes. So I don't know a few weeks ago I got one of those My Pillow things, and I think it changed my life. I was drinking heavily, smoking, not giving a fuck, but something kinda magical happened. It was like my mind was able to make connections that hitherto had never been formed, and through all these connections I discovered what I had come face to face with what I knew as true.

History has always been a passion of mine and history is just record keeping. Record keeping is something we take for granted. It's as easy as writing or having a machine save information. How did written language originate? It is our only source of history. Nobody alive today can say they heard Abe Lincoln's Ghettysburg address, and anybody who say's they "heard" it only heard a written text from a narrator, unless they're like 100 years old and were alive to hear it from some one else who was there a very young age. Still history is only recorded through writings and documentation.

Through time and wars many documents were destroyed, so finding the history is difficult. We can be sure that between the mayans, the middle east and ancient sumarians, and the chinese. Not only language, but record keeping and ultimately writing independently occurred. Word of mouth is ok, but we all know physical documentation provides better evidence be it in any case. So I think I'm going to just travel the whole world, look at ancient texts in museums. My love for calligraphy and different languages will serve me well in this regard. I have friends who love anthropology, and ultimately I'll make something good enough to sell to some one else. It's honestly fascinating that history as we know it starts when our ancestors 1000s of generations ago began to create records. How those records inevitably created our writing systems today is probably something worth consolidating.

Halo labs. HALO in Canada, AGEEF in the states.
These guys are massive and even started making dab tabs. A new way to dab is pretty big news. These guys are doing massive throughput of bulk cannabis on a contract basis and with their own 300,000 sq feet of MJ. Contracts are $2M per month alone.

They will make $48M USD per year on their current business, but with edibles or perhaps another contract, they can do upwards of $90M, which I do not doubt since they are opening a new extraction facility in California this month.

Keep an eye on HALO/AGEEF. Massively undervalued with the current $55M CAD, generating $48M USD is insanity. If they assume a premium of other similar cannabis companies, these guys are easily a 5x once word gets out and they develop a little more...
