average person making 80k also lives in a big city, has very little to no savings, and has a field hockey wife. people like this are trapped in normie meme prison where gross income matters more than net worth.

There's other shit to factor into it, COL for one. I make jack shit (under 27k) a year and that's before tax and other shit gets jerked out. But I've got a steady rock solid job w/benefits in stone, The only way I can be out on my ass is if the state government goes bankrupt. I live like 8 miles from my workplace. So my commute exp is very low. The only debt I got is my house and a little over 1k on a credit card. I got a little money in the bank, 4k in a brokerage, and a 401k via my workplace. My car is paid for (2014 corolla btw). My house is a 3b, 1 & 1/2 bath, w/garage and basement. Also has a decent size yard and rear deck. So yeah even though I make less compared to some, I got everything else I need and I'm on track to have a nice pile waiting for me down the road.

>> No.11708999

>>11708938
Reason I'm able to afford my house is due to timing; The market was in a shit hole at the time plus the owners were desperate. The place they wanted was in a high demand area. I ended up basically stealing this place, especially after the original owners pumped a large wad into renovating it.

I'm still living with my parents so my outgoings are not much more than £350 a month.

I have about £80k saved and I'm going to put it all into Bitcoin but I'm trying to time the bottom at the moment and I'm wondering whether this is it or it'll be mid 2019 after a second phase bear market, pic related.

please spare a thought for us mega losers before complaining about ur life, thank you

If I make it I will rent a nice flat, quit work and put all my bitcoin gains into biotech etfs at the bottom of the next stock bear market, wish me luck

>What planet is this? Why can't we get ahead or at least stop struggling to break even??

here's what you have to do:

>stop having a social life for the most part. you're not wealthy enough to have fuck around money, so don't fall prey to jealousy when you see your peers having fun on social media. they're in debt and flirting with alcoholism.
>devote your time to learning meme tech skills. BUILD A PORTFOLIO OF WORK THAT YOU CAN SHOWCASE AT AN INTERVIEW.
>do this for many years in your early 20s
>get an office job earning ~$50k
>live somewhere cheap
>max out 401k
>invest in blue chip cryptos like btc, eth, or link when they're cheap with the mindset that you're going to sit on them for at least half a decade. trade like a boomer: one trade per year at most.
>grind at all of this through your twenties and continue to save as much as possible
>if you're not completely autistic make some connections along the way at work because that's the only way you can advance unless your skills are unmatched

this is basically a boomer approach but your net worth will compound in value over time. don't fall for the "do what you love" meme, the "live your life in your 20s" meme, the "eat, pray, love" meme, or the "travel" meme. just grind and grind and grind. do what's proven to work and eat shit.

if you found a good person to toss your lot in with, someone who is a good teammate to have, you can make it through. what income is your wife bringing to the table?

for the record I do painting and drywall for a property company, just under 40k. Not a bad living and the job doesn't break my back or stress me out too much, I like working with my hands, reasonable commute and I lucked into some cheap rent. it's a living, can't complain too much for a newly-minted 24-year-old. There's no ladder to climb, I just cash a paycheck and get my benefits, but it pays my bills and I don't have mouths to feed. it's a living.

Please do outline my incredible future with that amount of capital. Would it be to launch a business that would almost certainly fail before the 5th year is out? Do some dropshippin brah? Or maybe I can get rich in property, just like the baby boomers, right? Build myself that solid future of 5% yearly returns, hey! Wow, just think, if I invest that £80k in some nice ETFs now I could be sitting on enough money to retire just before I die of old age!

Risk averse plebs like you die poor. Bitcoin will continue to piss over most asset classes and remains a spectacular opportunity that you, and many others will miss out on (again).

my boy, i was offering advice to those who cannot even break even- not you. there are of course better ways to live life, but realistically not all can successfully take risks. if you're able to live life on your terms and still come out on top then i applaud you, but you cannot expect everyone to be like you. some people have to resign themselves to the grueling, unsexy paths to success and you're not doing them any favors by suggesting otherwise.
