>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

That's actually a sign shit is going to get a lot worse. Because E will drop. Never buy stocks that look very cheap, especially large caps. C was very low P/E in 2008. People bought a lot of it, got nearly wiped out. If you have a cheap tech stock, run. FB is another one. If you are into it, you buy them when P/E is expanding. Low P/E on a widely held stock is a sign of trouble.

A tech company with low P/E and a cash horde. Clearly a good investment. Well, good luck with that. It's like a basic post .com bust shit you should have learned. There are no value tech companies and cash in a tech company is a bad idea. It means their tech is dying. It will end up like NOK. The cash will be pissed away on stock buybacks, and they will become obsolete. It's already starting.

i think their move to raise the price for their phones was stupid indeed. the management is making dumb decisions imo. seems they want to target the rich class and shake off the plebs.
the question you have to ask yourself when you choose a phone company is privacy. apple didnt hand over the retirement muslim shooters phone to the FBI a few years ago. i thought that was significant considering google is making a 1984 esque app in china. I would personally trust apple versus google in a heart beat. But i think apple is probably just as shady.

ive got family in hawaii and alaska, and its crazy how different prices are in those states

small islands are limited by what can fit on a cargoship or airplane, so if something is too heavy or has too much volume, its usually either more expensive or not there at all
theres not many ATM's in Hawaii because the machines are too heavy to fly in, and the ATM's that are there have insane useage fees (and most if not all are run by local hawaiian banks, not national bank chains)
water and non-tropical things are pricey there too, but their kona coffee and other local products are dirt cheap

alaska has a different problem, since its so remote, the only way to get perishable items (such as orange juice) is to pay out the ass to transport it up there in a hurry
and of course the extra price is passed on to the customer
but high quality meats and king crabs are cheap as fuck up there, not to mention petrol-products

>>11610643
>>gonna unironically have a look, there must be a national lime shortage or something

Well, your example is more like your cashier accidentally scanning an item twice (or 33x in your case). I'm talking more about the price you see on the shelf vs. the price that shows up on the register. So if you're buying a burrito, and its posted price is $1.99, but it scans as $19.99, the store has committed an error, and depending on where you are, the law might have your back. It's a law here in California. Some stores like Safeway or Walgreens will post a "price accuracy guarantee" of some sort.

>Apple Inc. dropped a bomb on Thursday, but it wasn’t the weak forecast for the holiday quarter: It was the fact that it will no longer disclose unit sales of its products for investors, as it has for more than a decade.

Apple AAPL, +1.54% reported that unit shipments for the iPhone were flat at 46.9 million units sold in the fiscal fourth quarter Thursday, then executives in a conference call said it would be the last time the company gives such information. Investors should clearly take this as a sign that unit sales will decline in the future, and they will not be told.

Simplify the thought process. You have too many steps in there. There is a reason the Buffet value long hodl is a popular strategy. It assumes trend will prevail over volatility.

The Buffet hodl isn't a type of trading i am comfortable with, so i go the other way and swing trade primarily on TA with only cursory concern about psychology of the markets are even company fundamentals.

My thought process is pretty simple. I predict a future event and want to make money off of a correct prediction. But this doesn't really work. I am probably going to try the TA route as sniffing out whatever scheme someone with money has going on is more profitable than understanding objective reality.

I'm usually not too far off from base on picks but always enter at the wrong time imo. Chinese shit got nearly halved in the last few months solely on trade war shenanigans. Its a dumb thing to over-leverage and I will continue to tell people that daily. This experience has been a nightmare, I probably learned my lesson. Gladly its looking like i will get back my 80k and make a little on top.

Literally any major ADR is fine, BABA has ER this morning that could stifle gains slightly or rocket them further. I'm most comfortable with IQ and BZUN, but HUYA and BAIDU are alright as of now too. These are not long trades for once. They remain mid risk trades for the next few days/weeks/months. Don't be a retard like me and all in them.

China is looking to retrace its markets a little from positive sentiment, ADRs took the brunt hardest and also climb back up the strongest.

I didn't really mean to disappear mostly, but dedicating myself to one small set of stocks that are under-performing means I don't have anything to contribute to threads more or less, so I lurk.

>> No.11611871

>>11611787
Oh and as far as fundamentals go, they never did change, these stocks fall and climb by the good graces of how people think they look. The idea of the trade war finally going away reverses some (not all) of the sentiment that crushed it.

I know, I hate it too, but its a reflection of how people overall don't know what standards to hold Chinese companies to, so sentiment becomes the most powerful factor by far.

Even though I am anonymous, we have been talking regularly and you must know I am somehow bearish on the chink shit (because I have been looking into the balance sheets of some of their public companies anda have some cultural insights into the chink soulless minds)

I have read recently from my favorite macro fund manager that China is trying to achieve reserve currency status for the CNY in the Asia region, meaning he is bullish on chink gov bonds and chink domestic stocks (companies selling shit to chinks)

I am still divided on the subject but I would look at what happened historically in the US (and the USD) after WW2 to get an idea of what the chink future would be.

In their effort to build a massive global trade belt they have to achieve legitimacy in a similar fashion to the US. Seeing trillions of dollars spent on building this infrastructure is always what has gained my confidence that money was to be made in their bid for power. Maybe they even fail, but it that would require a breaking of trust globally that they don't have the capacity to even do yet. Can't break what you don't have. As always 2-5% or 10% should be a sane persons cap when dabbling in this. Not the 98% I subjected myself to (LITERALLY JUST TWO WEEKS TOO EARLY). The big issue is : China is not the US

I mean culturally, the soulless chink meme is real in a way. Meaning their financial market way more sketchy than in the US (no trust in what is stated and the corporate decisions are mainly made to benefit the management and the board... mainly made of corrupt officials and family members)

Besides, you get non-stop and sudden guberment interventions mainly driven by ideology.

I think the CNY reserve status will take very long time as China is NOT YET the place to invest (I really think the supremacy of the USD lies partly in the general investment-friendly environment in the US)

Apple is going to raise the price of their phones at a bad time: for those unaware Apple has been coming under fire recently from their own cultists about how atrocious their warranty and repair programs are. To the average consumer, a price hike at a time like this indicates that Apple is ballsy about how it can exploit its consumer base for cash, further driving people away.

>b-b-but apple buyers are all mindless sheeple
Be that as may most of the time, there are industry professionals who use Apple devices for practical purposes. Think of the ease 10 years ago of popping a game in a console and having it just work vs troubleshooting a PC. DJs, editors, writers, they want products that work without extra hassle. Not everyone buying Apple's products are teenage girls and onions who don't care about consumers rights.

i like to look at options volume for market sentiment, which way people feel it will move.
it shows this under the option chain on any platform, might have to toggle the categories though most are set on greeks.
you can view volume for a stock in robinhood, its there.
if you see more calls then puts, for example, shows good attitude toward spy increasing and vice versa

So you use Robinhood to see all this stuff? Any alternatives? Don't got that in Europe you see
