>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Looking at my holdings and I'm thinking about selling some of it and reinvesting the proceeds in my other positions after I setup my Target 2050 fund. Reason is I've got so little tied up in the market that the "payoff" is spread to thin, would take a massive gain in all my holdings to really see any profit over the next 30 yrs.

Now some of the stocks are frankly "bait", I'm hoping Amazon will take them over thus I gain Amazon shares (hell even a partial share) for chump change. Others have a good chance of actually seeing some massive profit come down the pipe if the drug results are good (Amarin Corporation).
I'm gonna wait till December, see what the market looks like then, see how well my stocks are doing and cull them down at that point.

Least I didn't do like some fools and dump my entire savings in the market, that just leads to ruin frankly. If I wake up one day and see it all gone, well, It'll hurt, but I won't be in the shit if it does.

I do but I also believe there was some overvaluation, specifically in tech. I also think we could still see some further declines if they retake because of the risk of an impeachment. So basically more of a hedge than a full on correction but a strong hedge.
Despite this removing the unknown provides stability and improves investor confidence historically regardless of midterm results and so for me the big hinge is US China trade.

The nafta deal wont hit congress for 6 months and is going to be tricky anyway so i dont think its that impactful, usually they can put it in an omnibus bill and give some pork to individual congressmen to get people on board.
Again I think it comes down to china and feds.
Today yellin said if equities were to get too beat up they would rethink the quantitative tightening which was part of what we saw today and really pretty good news overall for the bulls.

Yes.
Most dividends are annualized and paid quarterly causing the price to rise sligjtly before the ex-dividend date. The fact that you are the new share-holder still means you are a part owner of that company and entitled to be paid out. You will pay a premium if you buy the day before.

Even then you should have your bases covered.

I have friend that is obsessed with "making it" and watches all these youtube videos with shit advice. Seriously, sounds just like him. He works minimum wage jobs and myself and his family were telling him to go back to school.. he fought it and fought it and fought it.. finally gave in.. after 3 weeks he loved school.. then i find out he's dropping out because he spends so much time "researching stocks" but his idea of research is watching some stupid youtube video on "muh technical analysis"

Everyone wants the easy way out.. Whenever people tell me they want to start in stocks I tell them have 6month of expenses saved up + emergency fund. While they are saving that up they should either start a garden or at least grow a plant. Things take time, shit doesn't happen overnight... even if something does happen overnight doesn't mean you are going to be able to do that every fucking time... Some people are always losers in the market.. but we need people like them so that we can make money.

One time I bought a rental property with all the money I had.. after closing cost and all the fees that went with it I had $35 left in my bank account. (I think i might still have the banks statement for memory) There were bills on that rental property.. I put someone in there right away (i was still new at managing property) The person i put in there stopped paying rent after the first month, then on another rental property I had a heater go out which has to get fixed according to law. I had to borrow money in order to get the heater fixed and borrow money in order to evict the person in the house which ended up being in there for like 4 months while i had bills on it.. i was scrapping by.. i was struggling big time.. i put all my money into this investment and next thing i know i'm in debt and i couldn't even afford to eat.

I ended up paying off the debt after about 6 months and got a good tenant in the place... after that experience i learned to not over extend myself on one single investment also to have a cushion for emergencies and also that yeah.. sometimes.. if you go all in and know its a sure thing.. the rewards are great.. but still.. won't ever do that again.

Fundamentally, tariffs and tightening lead to the same phenomenon : USD shortage
Foreign countries have to indeed sell ther bonds to get cash USD.

I don't think we will be seeing USD weakness soon because of the carry trade meme : every other country in the world is still drugged on low central bank rate, meaning their currencies will be shorted and USD bid.

So the big boys (eg. Douche Bank) who haven't unwound their short EURUSD are in for a massive ass pain

And I can go on about the differences in GDP growth in the world regarding the central bank rates.

Only countries without army trust USD. China is an example.
> the USA is a business friendly country and tend to keep and create value over time
Lol
>the USA is a rather ideal investment environment
Lol
>network effect: the more trust it gathers, the more trust it will get
Hardly argument and works against usd under trump

>the US army
Correct
> the USA is a business friendly country and tend to keep and create value over time
Wrong
>the USA is a rather ideal investment environment
Only in terms of IPOs and a source of funding
>-network effect: the more trust it gathers, the more trust it will get
No

The real reasons why the USD is dominant?
You forgot the SWIFT and the Oil dollar.

And you just admitted that it is simply extortion.

I like stocks and I have looked into them seriously and did my fair share of research

I can tell you that the USA has the most transparent and DD-friendly environment in the world
Have you ever tried researching chink shit stocks ? well good luck to you because they are mostly garbage or a giant corporate orgies among their chink families

Also, many of the last major innovations come from the USA.

In business, people have no memory of past good deeds.
They don't care if you gave them a nice present before if the current deal is shit. And you can be sure as hell they gonna bite you in the ass whenever they see the opportunity.
Do you guys thing past deals in favor of foreign countries made them treat the US with kindness ?

That is why talking business with normies is such a pain in the ass.

USMCA
>Can't pick trading partners without the approval of the US of A
>Can't touch their own currency or monetary policy
>Impose a fuckton of quotas on Canadian/Mexican import
>Higher percentage of automotive parts have to from the US
>US gets to keep their steel/Aluminium tariffs on Canadian/Mexican steel/aluminium

Far worse than NAFTA.

Then stop with the pretense of fairness.
If the US abuses its power and treat its allies like slaves, why shouldn't anyone have the right to call it out?
Nothing inherently wrong with it. It is just the way power works.

go long Chink government bonds because the ChinkCom wants to achieve a local reserve currency (Asian countries) status with their CNY

and keep an eye on chink companies who do business domestically

stay in cash in USD and buy the US market if Trump wins mid-terms and/or a 5 sigma event happens in Europe

This doesn't seem very stock related

Also new trade deals are so that USA doesn't go broke trying to get China to obey WTO trading rules, since no other country appears willing or able to
Short term uncomfortableness for long term growth and security is the planning behind it, we will have to wait and see if that's really what happens though
But most media blows all of it out of proportion because of their "fuck Trump" aditude
