>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

I thought of something else that could sink the market - if investors decide the ad revenue-based internet isn't proving itself out. Google is paying other companies 23% of ad revenue to get their web traffic. We still have no real proof targeted advertising has returns the way it's claimed. Amazon is still operating at the "showing you ads for things you just bought" stage, for example.

If it's another great depression boomers including my parents are going to watch at least half the money they spent their whole lives investing dissapear. but still to my dad now he just tells me oh well in 2000 i was down this much and i held and it worked out, in 1988 i was down this much and blah blah blah. the issue with market fluctuations and boomers is if they're doing the 4% draw rule. because 4% can mean a lot more when the market is down. thats why my goal is to have enough equity in dividend stocks that I don't need to worry about a draw because i'll have savings and dividends to get me through retirement without touching my principal and hopefully a little left over for continued reinvestment. then i'll leave it all to my dog

(though i already got "rich" off crypto will give my share to my bros). even if their equities share value plummted 80% they would have like 200k-300k but i can't help but think how shitty that would be for them to have to go through that after working hard their whole lives just to watch a lot of it disappear as they retire. On the flip side if this is not the start to a great depression then they will continue to be rewarded for being so exposed to equities and living off those dividends.
