Do you design the t-shirts yourself or just print other people's stuff?

I'm a full stack engineer and I've thought a few times about entering the personalisation market, not with tshirts, was going to start with a decent personalised design mug site, couldn't find a single one last year for a present based off a design I made.

Do you buy straight from a supplier and print them yourself or have a supplier print your designs and dropship them for you?

Software engineering field is boring and full of boomer managers, in fields like finance.

So you are hoping for a 30-40% increase in pay because they will see your intellect for what it is?

I've never done professional graphic design and I don't consider myself an artist. I had to learn how to do vectors so I've been messing around in Inkscape which is a free version of Photoshop.
I'd also be able to take something someone else provides and print it straight or see what details get lost in creating a vector out of it.

That's not bad but it's pretty specialized. If you're going for that you'd be best at least getting a full vinyl-cutter and doing decals or other things. At that point all you need is a heat press and a heater to make shirts.
>Do you buy straight from a supplier and print them yourself or have a supplier print your designs and dropship them for you?
I would be printing them myself on shirts purchased from a wholesaler like Shirtspace

>What made you decide to start your own business?
Owning my own business has always been a goal of mine, but I've fluctuated on what type. I wanted to go in to board games but it requires inventory and I wouldn't be able to afford that plus all the other requirements. This allows me to start small, sub $1000, and work up from there.

>So you are hoping for a 30-40% increase in pay because they will see your intellect for what it is?
It's a small company and all the owners love me, I'm hoping they either have plans to open up a US warehouse that I could manage or they'd want to start making shirts based on their IP's through me
