Once you get in debt passes 10k - the interest rates eat you alive. bank analyst fag here

millennials hate debt since they grew up in a broken economy, they've never been able to use debt as a tool for positive outcome. this would be more prevalent in 2014 when that chard was made too. they know how to use debt, they just don't want to. they don't want to spend money they don't have, in general, since that's already the reason they can't afford cars, houses, wedding or kids.

boomers and gen-x are literally beyond-NPC tier. they view debt as a free meal ticket to whatever they currently have a craving for, mostly because they grew up in an "impossible to lose" economy. it's like they have no idea debt isn't just something you pay back "whenever" or that they end up paying twice the amount in the end after interest. I can't count the amount of loans we deny over huge debt to income ratios in the 40-50%+ range. and that's only for accounts we see on the credit report like auto loans and revolving debt/credit cards.

I make about $140k/yr in a avg cost of living area and drive a 2003 car with 170k miles, and have no debt. my gen-x/boomer peers all have kids (i'm the youngest by 10 years at a minimum) and all buy new cars, houses, or boats every few years. all of them are budget balling in some way. I honestly don't think any of them besides the smarter management folks are saving for retirement at all.

case in point, this is the first google result from reddit. these idiots all make 100-200k combined and spend every dime of it.

I’m gen x and the fuck we do. Don’t have a credit card. Won’t get one. Won’t rent, won’t lease, won’t buy new cars ( unless the situation varies ). I trade options - SPY puts. Everything I know I learned on my own. Benjamin Graham can still teach the younger generations faggot. The only people my age who see it as a free meal ticket are those who are financially illiterate at understanding the nature of what they agree to. I feel it’s from lack of educational depth. But then again - I wasn’t taught what I know about WallStreet from school. I think that’s the problem. Wanted to learn the best efficient way to raise capital - first I coded apps and designs at 15 - self taught that landed me gigs of $50-200 in contracts. Did 1 sem of Uni in development but found out I knew most of what was being taught ( only 17 year old there ) - then at the end of that sem I zoned out from the lecture and remembered I had a finance book about stocks I never got around to. Picked it up - and never looked back since. I feel like because of my shitty grades from undiagnosed ADHD that I went through almost all of my education - that my high C low B averages wouldn’t be enough to let me enroll. So I’ve been seeing crypto now and shifting focus from high theta options on SPY - to high risk high reward alts that have potential in adoption and implementation. Now here I am - just turned 20 - writing this - saying your generalized view of gen xers is shit. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

holy fuck I wasn't aware of people getting jewed so hard on fucking credit cards. I got one since I turned 18 and use it for like 99% of my spending (including Amazon, Paypal and apple/google pay transactions) but it is fully paid every 90 days and I never spent a penny on interest. Instead, I'm getting cashback on literally every transaction other than buying drugs and hookers (but at least I got worldwide free cash withdrawals for things like this), airport lounge access, random insurances and maybe other cool stuff I've never used. Credit cards are awesome if your IQ is above room temperature.
Also, what's wrong with people taking car or vacation loans? If you cannot buy it cash, its way beyond your budget. Consider saving. Taking loans for depreciating assets is literally retarded. The only time you're supposed to take a loan is when the (potential) return is higher than the interest. eg take a loan, add some equity, buy property and cover the rate with the rental income. Or maybe buy the fancy car to get the high paying client.

Loans at interest is literally USURY a crime in any respectable civilization in medieval times, literal streetshitting feudal retards figured out that loans at INTEREST inherently cause debt slavery. The fact that boomers did this 500 years later shows how fucking dumb they are.

To explain this, imagine I loan out 10 gold coins each to 10 people of a village, charging 10% compounding interest. Within the first year, those 10 owe me 110 gold coins, already more than is in circulation (theoretically). A few of them may have made enough to pay it back, but most wont. And those that don't will have their debt compounded exponentially again and again until they are so far in the hole they are now my bitch. Let’s say I have a credit card debt of $4k or so
If I pay the interest rate every month in addition to depositing money to pay up the spent credit, will the interest still grow or will it remain mostly constant each month

Millenial here. I have a house(not my own, it's my dad's), it's in the city centre.I'm a NEET, living off of my crpyo gains. I can get whatever I want, it's just a 5-10 min walking distance. Even if I wanted to go somewhere further, I don't mind taking the bus or train. It's a crowded city, there's traffic every hour of the day, so sometimes taking the train is even faster and less stressful than driving.

I wanted to buy a car at january but my country has +%100 tax on cars, minimum. Beside that you roughly pay %0.5(or %1 if you deduct the taxes) of the cars value as a tax, just because. Not even going to talk about insurance, parking spot etc.

So literally for neet like me, only travels long distances maybe 2-3 times a year, I'd be more profitable if I use taxi, or rent a car.Even renting lambo breaks even. I won't consume, if I don't have to, or I have a high chance proffiting from it.(same rules apply for houses, boats etc)

I have a credit card, I do pay my bills on the day. But, I only own/spend from credit card because I have money on the side to pay for it. It's not much, yearly %3-5 if you look it from usd/eur side of things, but that's how you make money grow.

The only thing I truly own is my pc, it's more expensive than most motorcycles, even 2nd hand cars(if we don't count the taxes). But I literally sit in front of it at least 10hrs a day on average.

Did you not read what he said? It takes 0% from you if you pay it back within a reasonable time.

>Why would I need such a card if I have enough cash already laying around?

Because one day, maybe you don't have enough cash laying around. Maybe you get paid tomorrow so you are sure that you can afford it, but for whatever reason you find that your account is empty when you're at the register about to pay for something.

If you are so orderly that can 100% guarantee that something like that will never happen in your entire life, then I guess there's no need, but most people aren't that autistic.
