1. the top 1% is getting 95% of the benefits.

When you raise rich people taxes to 60% or some other crazy high percentage you make them not pay taxes at all. Like nerds who can bypass any DRM protection, the rich with an army of accountants can find every loophole to pay little to no tax. And just like nerds, there will always be rich people who don't want to pay anyway but there will be those who will since they have less incentives to cheat the system and you wind up getting more back from them in the long run. "Tax the rich, problem solved!" is what 17 year old NPCs say. If it was only that simple.

you have $10k, the other person has $100k. that other person has to pay $11k to price you out and get the boat.

now let's consider the world after this tax cut. you have $11k. the other person has $160k. that other person has to pay $1k more to price you out of the boat, but at the end of the day they still have more money than you (with which to price you out of things).

it's not about hating success, it's about addressing a difference in power. this tax cut was a redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich and it's only getting worse as the trump admin looks to cut social services in order to fund it.
