i don't think they have yet created sharding because they are still working on it and adding stuff into it so i don't know how it can be working since it isn't finished yet and for a cryptocurrecy to be advertised around the idea of a fast. all its doing at the moment is 2000 TPS hardly anything revolutionary there.

investing in ethereum competitors is a lost cause at this point. here's some fresh info i just compiled:

ethereum currently powers or is required for 50% of the networks or projects listed on coin market cap. ethereum itself represents over 12 billion dollars of token value on their network. the next largest network is 2 billion, and that's tether. if you remove tether, the next largest platform by total market cap is around 0.18 billion for neo.

ethereum is currently around 70x larger by value than the next largest network neo, (excluding tether), and has nearly 50x the volume of the next largest network, also neo.

that gap is massive, it would be equivalent to the top 10 coins on coin market cap not existing outside of bitcoin, and the second largest by value network to bitcoin being tron.

forget about platforms, the platform war has already been won, and ethereum is in a position that not even bitcoin itself has been in for years.

If Ethereum manages to scale then most likely yes.. If it fails to scale then I unironically think all decentralized blockchains for smartcontracts and tokens will be (almost) worthless.

if you think technology or scaling matters then you've been mislead, but yes, as a whole technology if scaling arbitrarily executed "contracts" isn't something that can be done in a feasible way, smart contracts are effectively dead.

It's more that it can't handle anything even superficially meaningful and literally everything on the network is meme-tier anyway. Ethereum isn't even myspace.

and that goes for every platform in their current states, without second layers, sharding, taking things off the blockchain itself, that kind of scaling isn't mathematically possible.

no, just like bitcoin is still here today even though it's tech pales in comparison, ethereum has done the same. whats to play for is the tech that solves scaling, sharding, second layers, zk-proofs. but the end result is that the tech gets implemented into the dominant platforms, like bitcoin and ethereum.

getting the timing right is far more important than the technology, you can be there in the right time at the right place with tech barely good enough, and that's enough to cement your position thanks to everybody else doing the hard work for you. for ethereum, the hard work is already done.

>>11456217
neo is decently far ahead in its number 2 spot, but only by ~3-4x. the problem with neo is just like every other platform, not enough is brought to the table to warrant any exodus from ethereum.

Not really, my argument is the cards are still being dealt. Zilliqa will have some game, zillimon that was ethermon or some bullshit that's currently non-functional but on the ethereum blockchain. Whichever smart contract blockchain that can deliver functional products and DO deliver functional products will survive. Ethereum hits neither of those metrics right now.

that's just wishful thinking though. ethereum is already the dominant platform, for anything else to be taken seriously, ethereum itself has to first disappear, or the developers, resources, infrastructure, and institutional interest will remain with ethereum.

hoping some new tech that's yet to even work is going to have any measurable effect on a network that's already a monster within the crypto space makes no sense. tech is nothing, if it's good, ethereum still has leadership strong enough to implement other blockchain's tech before that blockchain ever gets a chance at amassing any users or developer interest.
