Do you think a business around selling pic related could be profitable? I'm thinking of marketing it as avant garde limited run art pieces to upperclass folks. Each one is hand crafted and one of a kind. Does anyone want to buy in?

OP here.

In my town, every year we gather in city hall to make pic related. These are called Gummys. Its a custom that goes back almost 100 years. I come from a poor state in the US (wont say which one) that until recently had very few jobs. The only real industry here was candy and many families worked for a gum factory here to make ends meet. On christmas many families would make gummys as presents for one another because nonone could afford toys. I didnt realize it was unusual until I started traveling around 20 and no one knew what I was asking about when I talked about making gummys.

A lot of people are telling me that but I think they are missing the charm and spirit behind Gummys which is reusing what is around us and making something nice for someone. In my hometown this is something we look forward to, and I thought there was a chance I could share it with others.

>>11439409
Yes, my old city was very poor like I said. Even our version of good will had almost nothing, so we have to be creative with what we find. Many families here work for the gum factory which gives them free gum to take home.

Thank you everyone who has shared kind, or encouraging words. My only wish is to share my home towns customs with others. Our culture.

While I am hesitant to give my entire process, as every family here has their own methods handed down and closey guarded, I will share some insight into the gummy process.

Gum is sticky so wear some common nitrite gloves. wet the gum if possible and keep it warm for easier shaping. It will be extremely grabby and you may need multiple pairs of gloves to finish one gummy.

friend i have no reason to mislead anyone. I only came here for business advice.

continuing my previous post, every gummy is somewhat different, there is no official gummy recipe. Each one has a bit of who made it in them. The best gummys are really piecds of art. I can tell the difference between a soulfully made gummy and one made without passion. (most people can who grew up making them)

Collect interesting pieces over time and when the time is right to make a gummy youll have what you need to make one for someone.

Something I dont think anyone here is thinking about is what I call the "green angle". These are eco friendly products. Gummys are a sustainable product.

with that information and timestamp proofing I say that you should incorporate using peoples personal effects as an incentive to make a gummy more RARE. you could probably charge 15-40$ if you can create a demand for them and over time charge more and more. it's gonna be hard to make them in vogue though gumanon. you'd need some sort of tastemaker to post or keep posting on like twitter/instagram about how much they love their gummy.

once you have artificial demand you can create artificial scarcity. thus driving up the price to 100 or so a gummy.
