Calling marriage a scam is an oversimplification, in my opinion / experience.

Going from my sample size of 1, in your 20s you're lucky if you know who you really want to be and what you want out of life. So in most cases, it's easy to fall back on the default "get married". To be cliché, "finding yourself".
